Will not be sticking with BMW
This is not a rant, merely explaining my reasons for not staying with BMW. My X5 lease is up in a few months and I can't think of a good reason to choose another X5 (or X6) this time. I value your opinions so I am interested in hearing any feedback.
1. Run flats ... yes I know this subject has been debated ad nauseum but it still annoys the hell out of me why BMW forces these shitty tires on its customers. At least give us the option. The ride is awful, they are expensive as hell to replace and not repairable. The first thing I did when taking possession of my X5 was remove the RFTs and put on some Conti DSW6's. I will be taking the X5 back with brand new RFTs, beats paying for new ones that are too worn out. 2. It seems as BMW is seriously lagging behind other luxury auto makers when it comes to electronics. No Google Auto available and Car Play is optional ($). Waze is by far the best traffic option in my area and I am sick and tired of using my phone when a lot of other vehicles offer the option directly from the vehicle. BMW's Navi and traffic are awful, not updated often enough and at a cost (Bimmian's updates). A few other minor irritants that will go unmentioned. I did really enjoy the driver experience though, it is a really nice vehicle that is surprisingly fun the drive for it's size. Not crazy about the X5 redesign either. My current options are F-Pace, Q8 and Velar. Haven't been to dealers yet so this list might get longer |

Those are pretty minor... but see you later.
You are going to run into rtf on a lot of brands... I would say that the future of in car Navi systems is the phone and not in car stuff...

I drove them all but hands down to X5. Only thing else I really considered was Cayenne, but the rate was terrible

Your list isn't a good enough reason to dump the brand. I guess were all spoiled with what technology can do for us.
This is the ultimate driving machine. And that means superior handling, craftsmanship and legendary engines. All the best with whatever you drive. I would recommend checking out the 2019 X5 before you make any decisions. |

Leaving a brand for lack of Google Auto? No Waze? Runflats?
I’ll put it to you this way; if a brand’s “selling points” of a car were Google Auto, Waze, and no runflats, they wouldn’t be selling it to me. |

Coming from an ‘08 E70 that still drives wonderful and I smile every time I am behind the wheel, I test drove ‘18 F15 and ‘19 G05 last month. I was going to pull the plug on F15, but G05 is much more thrill to drive compared to my current E70 that I decided to wait for 2020 model when it comes out. Plus the new GLE 450 is getting some great reviews so I guess it’ll give me time to test drive Benz as well when it arrives next year and compare it with G05 before I make my decision.
As others have mentioned, test drive G05 first before you make your call (or if you can wait until late spring next year, I suggest adding the new GLE to your mix). All the best!!! |

Really, on my G30 Carplay is awesome after the last ios update. Great to have Waze on Carplay now and music sounds much better though Carplay. I do miss having directions on HUD, but just getting Waze alerts through Carplay is worth it.
I have driven all the top cars and BMW is far and away the best at the tech, whether it is their own iDrive system, HUD, etc..., no other car manufacturer can compare. As far as runflats, have you tried the Bridgestone Driveguard runflats? I have them on my G30 and our SUV and think they are very good. |

I just bought another BMW, my fourth now. As can be guessed, it was an F15 (replacing my F25). I had previously said I wasn't happy with the direction the brand was headed (not the reasons above), but in looking out there, short of a Cayenne, which is considerably more, and less tech I didn't see any options I liked.
In my opinion, for the money, there aren't many competitors to BMW that offer a sporty driving experience (provided you spec your car properly) with a good package of options, and a well made car. I am by no means the biggest fan anymore, but I am very happy with my new to me F15. |

Neat interior, but the gl series has always lacked a sporty drive of the x5, it is more luxury then sport. It’s nice but a slightly different experience. I don’t think the new one will be different in that aspect. Will need to drive it

I like the new G class very nice inside. Much more spacious than the older one. Only problem is they raised the price $30k (WTF!).
