Sorry no videos. I was sitting in the passenger seat just taking it all in.

The dyno used is called a Mustang dynometer and uses a load to simulate the impact of real world conditions.

They did 3 pulls and all were fairly consistent.

Here are the results (WCF):

HP - 281 at 5,362 RPM
TQ - 286 at 2,876 RPM

Considering the advertised figures with MPPK is 320hp/332TQ the loss from the crank to the wheels is less than 15%.

Conclusion: my guess is that with MPPK it's putting out more at the flywheel than what's advertised.

Just as an FYI to the Chicago peeps:
The guys here at Komet's said if we had at least 5 guys lined up, they'd only charge $75 per person.

According to Dinan the N55 with the MPPK put down 292whp and 329wtq.

Pay attention to the video/screen at the 57 second mark.

Those are great number

1. AWD drivetrain loss probably more than 15%, so it's fair to say kit adds more power than advertised

Thats a solid number considering a Mustang Dyno is called the "Heartbreaker" dyno since it puts out the lowest numbers compare to other dyno machines.

Yeah the owner of the shop was telling me that he was expecting 25% loss so he felt it was putting out more than advertised.

More info from the shop owner:

This dyno is what's called an Eddy Current dyno and is factoring real world load and loss due to driving a big box down the road (e.g. 15% loss at 50mph and goes up from there).

Inertia dynometers will put put out higher numbers but less accurately represents real world conditions.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the results!

Definitely looks good.

Now if we could only get a baseline (or something close to a baseline, seeing that we will have to use two different cars, one with MPPK and one without)

Stock numbers are probably underrated as well

So how do we translate that into HP and TQ gains from the MPPK?

Gosh, that's hard to say.

I guess we need someone to dyno a stock X5 now (on a similar dynometer).

For me, the next little venture will be to take my truck to the drag strip to see how it performs 0-60 and 1/2 mile.

Advertised 0-60 with only MPPK I think is 5.6 seconds. Not sure if they've quoted any quarter mile times.

If anyone's interested I'll be going to the Byron Dragway hopefully in a few weeks.

We need the same people at our little meet last time to all get it dynoed at the same place/time to be able to get a better picture of that. We had all the possible combinations with us.

Stock
Racechip only
MPPK only
MPPK with Racechip

Kzang that's why I wanted to do a group dyno. If we get back to back readings, we will get to find out how much power the MPPK adds over stock

FYI Enzo tuning offers "discounted" dyno runs if you buy their tune. The discount is $199. They don't seem to want to just dyno the cars

If you guys look on my mod thread, I have a baseline dyno number on a dynojet.
But the whole variable would be different since I am on 91 octane and have BMS intake and muffler even on base.
Oh and mine is RWD.

Agreed. I'll be the baseline...

Should we also try a few drag races on a long strip to test real life conditions haha

Thanks FamilyMan for the info!

If we can get a Dinan and a flash tuned car, we'd have the ultimate results

yes, I think solid numbers also considering Mustang and at the wheels. Im also sure that a better number could be had from someone who is used to dynoing BMWs and specifically SUVs.

I have the MPPK also. Had installed before I took delivery of my 2016 X5 35i. Had a Burger stage 1 on my 2013 X3, I like the MPPK much better!

12% for Mustang, and 12% for drivetrain gives: 368 torque, and 353 hp at crank

Hey FamilyMan have you considered installing Racechip Ultimate and doing another Dyno run? I'm curious to know what kind of gains we are getting with RCU with different settings.

Hey Don Juan... Sorry for the delayed response. I've been off the grid lately.

I haven't gone to the track yet. Winter snuck up on me and now I'm trying to decide on new wheels before going out to the track.

I'll keep you all updated once I do make it out there.

Nope, I'm not ready for Race Chip.

I need to swap out my 19" first then I may look at coilovers.

Then I may revisit tuning... I really regret no getting at lest 20" when I first got the truck!
