Green indicators for seat heating!!

My first BMW was a 1989 325 Cabriolet, but my first BMW with heated seats was a 2004 330cic. I found it strange, very strange that the seat heating lights were green. Since all BMWs I have had since are green, I just have gotten used to this.

Strangely, the RR Ghosts and Phantoms I have had (BMW Group product), the seat heating indicators are an orangey-red (like it should be).

BMW steering wheel heat button though has a red/orange light

Recently a good friend (never had a BMW before, but now has a '17 X5 35i) asked me why the seat heating indicators are green! I simply could not answer this question for her.

We have had TONS of cars....German, British, Japanese, American and Swedish and all seat heating indicators are with red lights. But, green for BMW.

Anyone know why? Obviously not important, but it is one of the why, just why questions. Thanks!

Hmmm... You are right and I guess since I rarely use mine I never really noticed. I wonder if they chose a contrasting color to the rest of the amber lights so that it stands out? Either way, I would prefer a red light.

Probably because bmw is already using orange lighting for other things and to differentiate they went with the green.

Cooling are blue, but I never use heated function so could not tell you.

EDIT: I think green makes sense to keep dash lights consistent and uniform.

That's the default color for the center dash buttons. Looks alright tho. I'm getting tired of reddish ambient lighting thanks god we have a buch of colors to choose from. Red is kinda depressing but i like the red cluster.
