LED adaptive headlight

Can someone please tell me what my adaptive LED headlights are suppose to do besides lighting up street? I noticed my light swivels to right but not to left? I also saw on YouTube what these lights can do in regards to oncoming traffic where the lights can decrease glaring for oncoming traffic but keep roads well lit for us drivers. Is this the "anti-dazzle"?

With the LED option you also have adaptive high beam assist. Turn this on and when it senses oncoming traffic headlights then your high beams switch off to low beams. Works like a charm on back roads.

Anti Dazzle is similar and much more advanced.. that feature is only available in EU and other parts of the country and not available in the US. However some have managed to code this feature. There is a huge thread on this somewhere.

In regards to the lights not swiveling left, I could be wrong but I think it does slightly, but mostly its designed to swivel to the right. I think the idea behind this is if the lights swivel left then it would affect oncoming traffic on US roads that drive on the right.

You might be right. If you have these lights and get a chance please try to turn your steering wheel all the way to right and left and let me know if it swivels to left at all. Mine doesn't but if what you saying is true then I'm assuming all adaptive lights don't swivel to left.

On my E60 ( 2007 525i and 2010 535i ) with Xenons swiveled both left and right.
On my E70 ( 2010 X5 ) I don't recall or paid much attention.
On my F15 with LED's for sure doesn't swivel to the left either. On start up I noticed it swivel slightly to the left though.. but during normal driving I don't notice it.
The Xenon's should also be adaptive so any US F15 owners could verify if the lights swivel left or not.

I think it swivels to left slightly in certain speed?

When the car is stopped, yes, it doesn't swivels to left for US model.

is it illegal to code anti-dazzle, wondering if we do and some cop who knows these features are not allowed, issues a ticket or something ?

I have these in my f15

LED lights are the way to go as they produce a cleaner light path and much more coverage especially on dark back roads and such. I plan to re-code mine for the anti-dazzle

Having had the LED on my first F15 and not on my second I noticed a huge step down in visibility. Much cleaner light in the LED.

As for the left swivel, I can't say for certain but it seems with the xenon to be more noticable.

At any rate, it was an oversight on my part not to make sure my current F15 had the LED when I took it off the lot. Be glad you have them!

Not really an apples to apples situation but when I owned a F02, I got a G11 loaner with LEDs and the difference was night and day.

Probably, but who cares since the officer really would have no way to prove it and honestly probably would not notice it unless they were directly next to you.

Also, since it is coding, it can be coded out and coded back in.

If you have adaptive LED's; then coding them is a must in my opinion. I have coded the option on both my F15 and F82 and it is incredible. It is only due to archaic US Government/Canadian bureaucracies that it is not allowed in North America.

In town, I don't engage it, but on highways and country 2-lane roads it improves your vision significantly.

Here are a couple of videos describing and showing it in action:

If you are interested in coding, read this thread:

dmnc02 posted a how to here in that thread:

I know this procedure works up to the 2017 model year, not sure if there are or need to be some changes for >2018 models, but should be in the thread.

Yes. If you code in the adaptive lights the beam shapes depending on speed and other things on low beam and when you hit the auto high beam function it starts turning reflectors of and on and moving the beam around a lot.

Had this for a month before took in to get iDrive controller replaced under warranty. Then when they coded new controller it erased it for me. Been to lazy to try myself and guy who coded for me won't recode for free.

IMHO. I don’t mind paying someone nearby for coding this if possible.

Yep but paying twice for it is another thing as I already paid him to code my whole vehicle.

The LED lights in my F15 are by far the best option it has. Not the HUD or even night vision. LED option and DHP are the 2 best options hands down.
