Highest mileage F15 X5 50i?

So this is my first BMW (previously in a W212 Benz 14' E Class), I did plenty of research prior to purchasing and found mostly good feedback on the n63tu. I'm at 73k miles now and was curious if anyone else had broken 100k yet. If so, any comments on transmission and/or feel on how the engine operates?

I think you have one of the highest mileage here. We should learn from you man. Tell us more about your experience so far, what maintenance you did and/or repairs?

well you can only do so much to prevent issues. my big things are to do early oil changes and be easy on engine until it warms up. i cringe when i see some rev a cold engine.

Agree, no revving until engine warmed up (especially our V8). Timely oil change goes without saying. Washing car often helps too - car can feel it and goes faster

I'm still not sure about our ZF8 transmission change - I would guess at 75k miles it's about time to start change it. Cooling system flash is another thing I'm not sure yet as to when it's necessary to do

I bought it with 68k about 6 months ago and have not had to do anything thank god. Shifts clean and drives like a dream. I'll certainly bring up having some of those fluids swapped during my next oil change.

I just bought mine couple months ago and I am at 85k. (knock on wood) So far so good.

I came from Lexus and Audi's and I think the tranny could be smoother for an SUV.

I had about 115k miles when I got into an accident that totaled my x5. I drove everywhere in that thing and other than standard maintenance (oil changes, rotate tires, brake pads, etc.) I had no issues with engine, transmission, etc. And this is with me driving the heck out of the thing with the MPPK installed too.

I'm currently at 79k with a '15 X5 50i...only issue I had was the dreaded Drivetrain Malfunction which resulted in my engine being replaced around 35k miles.

No issues since then, and getting rid of this thing in July!

My 2014 had almost 100k miles bought an extended maintence plan from 50k-100k... overall car never had any real issues. Drove perfect.

When it got near 100k we swapped it to a 2018 recently. Perfect size perfect ride. We had an x3 prior to both x5’s felt flimsy and not planted relative to the x5

Great Thread. I’m seriously considering doing something I never thought I would. I found a fully loaded M-Sport F15 50i with 102k miles. I’ll put $2k in paint repair and a new M-Sport steering wheel.

Got quoted $4k for a 75k mile Warranty.

The Porsche Dealer is asking $25k with all service records, dealer service and new tires. I’m going to offer $22k cash

Any thoughts? I’m thinking of going-in with no warranty.

are you a diy'er? have a good local bmw mechanic? then i'd skip waranty. if you're going to rely on a dealer for service, i'd buy something else!

What are some watch outs and common problems? Obviously the $4k warranty is worth it the moment a tranny goes. So let’s throw that into the proposition. That would put me at $29k for the Car with full warranty, new 2019 steering wheel (which looks Money) and the paint job.
