That’s what my issue is with the G05: I want (or expect) to like the design from the start, and not hope it will grow on me.

Sadly there hasn't been a design since the E46 M3 or E39 that I liked from BMW immediately. They all had to grow on me. All of them.

A fair point. The concern is when they stop growing on you!

The E9X and E60 never grew on me. The E90 modified properly is decent but again never loved it and probably would not revisit the E9X platform. The E60 is the 996 of the BMW world. It turned off a lot of purists and it was a very polarizing design. Interior wasn't very nice. The iDrive was very clumsy and not intuitive. The engine and exhaust note when paired with an exhaust is amazing but not enough to get past all the rest. Kind of like a girl who is amazing in bed but looks like Leslie Jones. You have to turn a blind eye to find out and I am not sure the trade-off is worth it.

The e60 is probably my least favorite design. I think it's the same designer of the "bangle butt" BMW lol.

I agree with all of this e60/90 talk. I just don’t like those cars. I think it’s the interior. The exterior can be somewhat bland if the interior/tech is just amazing. But the tech is about as boring as the appearance. But it’s not totally BMW’s fault. Just a weird era.

I followed one on the road today. Thought it was an X3 at first, but realized it was new X5. Not bad, but not that great either. Maybe it'll grow on me.
