Would you say these are worth the money for an upgrade over the Stock HK systems? What about the Bavsound subs? Are they worth while?

I would say add a sub and listen. This might be enough.

Imho bavsound speakers/subs/amp are not much(if any) better than HK. Adding a trunk sub to HK system is by far cheaper and makes more difference.

The sub+amp in the trunk makes the bigger difference in my opinion.
Are the Bavsound speakers the only replacements that work for the X5? What about upgrading the dash speaker? Does that help at all?
There are a handful of euro companies that make direct bolt ins. Focal, alpine, gladen, etc... I have heard great things about the gladen kits but never heard them. The center channel is not worth replacing. I adjusted my time alignment on my dsp and you couldn't tell that I only have a 3 way and a sub.

The biggest difference is going to be replacing the amp. The speakers are only going to sound as good as the source feeding them.

There are other options, but I personally has been using BavSound on my F10 AH5, F06 650GC, and currently on my G30 540i.
The later 2 cars had HK originally, and after an upgrade to BavSound it was quite an improvement. Not big, but it is plenty for a simple plug and play speaker upgrade.
I have installed to a few customers with HK, even on the latest F90 M5, all has been enjoying the improvement the BavSound gave.
It gets better after the speakers are loosen up.

I'll be using a mobridge, zapco anps, audio control processor and oncore subs. Plan to use stock BO speakers. I'll post pics when it's done.

So can anyone help a brother out and list exactly what to buy with links to add a sub/amp to HK (I don't have 3rd row so have plenty of free space in trunk. Something simple in assembly, not looking to win audio contests, just want to add sub to my HK that will make a difference - that's all. Thank you!

Look on the first page there a link to the harness and an audio control lc2i. This will give you the RCA connection for your amp.

Ah, I see. Thank you! So to be clear, is this all I need?

1. Harness $50 https://technicpnp.com/product/logic...sub-t-harness/

2. LC2i LOC $99 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IIL0LW0..._59YVBbYCNTKCE

3. Amp + Sub

What Amp and Sub should I get (what specs limitations I should aim at)? I can use all of my spare tire space under lid. Thank you!

Whatever your budget allows. Lol
A single 12" would be enough. The only limitation is the depth of amount 9" max. So if you can have a box and sub under that you will be fine.

As for upgrading its cheaper because you don't have the fiber optic input that the HK and b&o. But still the same upgrades are available.

I would upgrade all the speakers, amp+a trunk sub. You wouldn't need a harness and LC2i as the bimmertech amp you gonna get has a sub input already. Skip upgrading underseat subs.

Bimmertech makes a direct ply and play to the base system, and it has a sub output for an amp.

But hi-fi is garbage..
I would never add just a sub to the stock system

What wattage I can use safely on our x5 stock batteries?

For example will this Sub and Amp be a ok-ish choice?
Sub: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_136932...yABEgJGCPD_BwE

Amp: https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...43CXA6001.html

What dsp are you going to use? I just got rid of my z200.4s and got some Zuki audio 4channels eleets and a mono. Also switched to the new Zapco DSP. Honestly the Zuki amps sound way smoother and warmer then the zapcos.
