Cleaning xLine exhaust tips?

Hi all, I have a 2017 X5 xLine with the round aluminum finish exhaust tips. Over time, they have darkened from carbon buildup, but the driver's side tip looks much worse than the passenger side. I've tried scrubbing the tips to make them look new again, but I haven't had any luck. I also don't think I can polish these, as they're the matte look exhaust tips. Has anyone been able to clean these up and make them look new again?

Thanks!

I used a car polish, came off pretty easy - just needs a little pressure

You can open the valve and pull the fuse as well if you want exhaust to come out of both exits at all times. Note: You will feel a little decrease I torque (just tune it and you'll be fine).

I would suggest getting the double walled tips. You can go a bit bigger too, to fill the huge round hole, and they dont have that rounded lip that gets so dirty so quickly. The angled ones are much easier to clean and can be scrubbed in no time

So I tried to clean up the tips a little bit and I found out that the paint on the tips has actually peeled off under the soot, revealing this ugly beige-brown color. Unfortunately I doubt BMW's extended warranty would cover this...
