Replacement key cost

Can anyone estimate what a replacement key might cost for a 2017 X5?

Estimate? Probably $150-$400...it varies by BMW dealerships & markets. You can make a simple call to your local BMW dealerships Parts Dept (if there’s more than 1 in your vicinity...call all of them for a quote)...have the last 7 digits of your VIN ready...then ask them how much it would be to order a new remote fob. They should be able to give you a quote in a few minutes once they enter your VIN into their database and pull up the info.

Paid 319$ for key fob and 80$ half hour labor reprogramming for comfort access. This was the cheapest I got from 5-6 local dealers also did not opt for the laser cut key as I already have one. The key fob itself was similar in pricing from dealers but it was the labor rate that was random, one dealer actually said it was a 2+ hour job at 350$ just for labor LOL

Thanks. Quite a range. Let's hope it's closer to the lower end

When the remote start for the X5 came out there was lots of talk about needing to buy/program another key in addition to buying the remote start unit. Most folks then were talking about the fob being $300-ish with varying costs for labor to program it.

Ok, I am hoping that I am not advertising someone.

Open Road BMW in Edison NJ. Call them and ask for club pricing, you have to mention Xbimmers or Xoutpost. Ask for Dave at retail parts.

$80 for key, $260 or there about for FOB. You will have to send them your registration picture to prove you own car and all that shit.

Once key is made, it will have everything for your car. You will just have to activate it by holding it by the key symbol next to column and pressing engine start few times. All will work. I didn't have to do any programming.

It would a very long drive from Houston to Jersey for OP Dealers can't ship out keys they can order one with your information to the dealer but you would have to pick it up and you do need programming with ISTA if you had 2 keys previously as the lost key would need to be deactivated for new key to work.

You may be right, won't work for everyone. I didn't realize the not shipping part. You are correct, I did pick my key up. I ordered it over phone, but picked it up at dealer when doing brakes.
