Using brake fluid from opened container

I did my brake flush yesterday and ended pouring and extra half liter into the pressure bleeder and not using it. I poured it back using a funnel into the original container and was wondering if I could use it next year when I'm doing the brake flush on my x6.

Safe to do so once the container was opened or should I just discard it and buy a new one when the time comes?

If the container is sealed it should be alright.

Given the cost of brake fluid, I'd err on the side of caution and use a fresh container next year.

Makes sense, I'll discard it then.

I would not bother, just properly recycle old bottle and get a fresh one.

Get rid of it. Brake fluid absorbs moisture like a muther. You can find an old open plastic container (like a tupperware container) putt a healthy amount of kitty litter in there. Pour the fluid in there leave it to evaporate. Then toss.

Perhaps if you leave the bottle uncapped. Otherwise how is moisture going to get in?

It's not a hermetically sealed bottle at that point. If you do a search even the manufacturers will tell you to throw it away. If you keep it for a few days or weeks you should be ok, but if you are like most people and it sits up there for years, humidity will get in and that will reduce the boiling point of the fluid which is not good.

Most fluid is cheap. I just thew away almost a full bottle of Motul 600 for my M3 which is not cheap.
