Rear boot/trunk lid lower plastic removal X5

So I was doing some work on the X and needed to remove the plastics from the lower section from the boot door. The bits with the handle, so per RealOem pieces 13 and 9.

Had a look at ISTA and the instruction were vague, at best. The forums/youtubes weren't better in details for a F15/F85.

Well, those arrows are very misleading. There is 8 of each those slide guides and latch mechanism

So if you are going to try this. There are two ways.
  1. Hulk mode and just rip the f*cking thing off and buy new pieces.
  2. Enact dad level of patients and take your time. It is possible to remove, without breaking any pieces.

Note* if you need a father son bonding moment of yelling at him for not shining the light where you need it. This is it. Even with good lighting you will be Stevie Wonder most of the time.

The issue is that the white acoustic padding will be in your way most of the time and prevent access/visibility to the clips.

I used a borescope to light up far in. Then is just a matter of using a long flathead screwdriver to press down and pop the clips. The slide guides don't need to be touched.

With the lower trunk open as you are undoing the clips, piece #9 will slide upwards towards the roof.

Yellow are the clips, blue are the slide guides.

PS. whom ever at BMW decided that it was a good idea to create this rattling piece of shit in two pieces this way. Please get your d*ck stuck in a door jam.

Lol at the comments and the two approaches (hulk vs. dad mode). Nice work!

Yeah I spent more time on those inner clips than I would care to admit. I wrote this thing straight after, and was not in a happy state.

Well, thanks for sharing! Had a good laugh and know that I'll be able to remove this in the future should I ever need to.

Is that what makes rattling noises in the back? I have something driving me nuts and it's coming from all the way in the back somewhere
