I'm going to do some more investigation with some local BMW specialists before I make up my mind. There are a few close to me that are ex BMW dealership technicians so will chat to them.
I'm 25k miles and have a feeling the brake pads will be up for replacement very soon.
Did you find any reputable places to have it done?
Like you I refuse to pay over inflated prices with BMW

Definitely going to Indy for the brake job. I try stay away from the stealership for all maintenance/work except for oil changes. Not too much of a difference in price there, plus the loaner and car wash is a nice perk.

I'm trying trying to figure out if I want to just replace the rear pads and rotors OR go ahead and replace both axles with pads and drilled & slotted rotors.. trying to price out both options. Looks like Power Stop has been pretty reliable to guys on here.
Maybe I could recoup some $ selling front pads and rotors that only have about 8K miles on them?

No real point in getting drilled and slotted. If you were doing a full swap then sure but 8k miles in May not be worth the cost. Plus doubtful you'll find anyone to buy just a front set of used pads and rotors that will cost a small fortune to ship anywhere.

But if you can afford to eat the cost then go for it!

Found some good mentions for X5m Brembo brakes if you're going for ceramic.

Powerstop z23-1429 evolution sport pads

Akebono EUR919 ultra premium ceramic pads

I have a good history with HAWK pads myself, but haven't done the f15 yet. I'm doing brembo/m brakes next month.

Hawk HPS - rear has front pads pictured on their site; which is confusing.

Anyone sporting hawk pads?

Scratch those ceramic Powerstop ones off - they just started to get noisy again lol. This time only in the beginning - when you use them for the very first time in the morning or after a prolong parking. Back to square one for me in terms of pads. I know it's f85 rotors that are contributing to the noise, but I'm stuck with them.

Ack!

I was hoping these were going to be a good solution.

Are there any pads for the X5m that don't squeak? My 35i rears have started to squeak in the morning (about 30% life left); and it's real annoying pulling out of the garage every morning....

Should I give up on thoughts of a squeal free life?

Does anyone have a 50i with the PowerStop bake kit (drilled and slotted rotors)? I'm considering getting it this week. I'd like to see how noticeable to drilled/slotted look is since the rotors are not as big as the F85 rotors.

What does that mean, by your own quality aftermarket brand... for 25-50% of the cost and do it yourself or take to an Indy.

For example...last brake job I did was on a 2015 X3...I used Brembo... cost 550 CAD... dealer stuff, with untreated(coated) rotors... nearly 2000 CAD.
Stock pads are “Galfer” GA 8135H FG made in Italy.
