iDrive knob tightening
Hi all,
Second time the iDrive knob becoming tight while turning either way. Got it fixed under warranty last time, but just happened again yesterday. Any of you come across this issue? If so, any quick fix methods that doesn't require a trip to the dealership?

There is another thread about this, take a look in there. Someone details the steps to fixing it. Believe it involves removing a plastic ring inside.

If your under warranty get it fixed. Free $900. Worry about how to fix it yourself when you're out of warranty.

I saw this and went to fix mine today... I just used a hook tool and was able to pull the plastic ring out without even removing the top of the knob. Came out in about 5 seconds!

A much-delayed thanks for the responses. Looks like it's a broken ring inside. The DIY looks quite simple, thankfully. I'll try it out and get that sucker out of there!
