ISTA+ Download Link

Ok so after searching all over this forum for ISTA+ and only coming up short with a link in the F80 forum and its all Russian and not easy to follow i found this in the bimmerfest side of the house. Truth is i dont have enough time in the day to live in this forum much less here and bimmerfest so i figured i'd link the thread here for those in the F15 interested in the same info as I.

I am in no way affiliated with it or the originator and all props go to him.

Thread: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh....php?t=1023698

Download Link: post 1 of thread above. Changes every time there's an update.

How To Guide: it's a pdf but I can never figure out how to see them on the app. But I did see it on my computer when logged in. So hopefully it's still there.

You beat me to it. I spent 6 hours yesterday trying to figure this out and yes this is the correct link and it works. It just takes forever to get setup - at least it did for me.

My recommendation is to read the How-to guide first. Then when you go to the actual download site to download all of the files, there's another document called ISTA+ Installation guide - read and follow this one step by step as you are downloading and installing. Good luck!

Also strongly recommend installing inside a virtual machine or a dedicated old laptop. You dont want to spend the time to install it, need it 3 months later, and figure out its not working.

ya i dont like that they have 2 different "install guides" makes the whole thing frustrating. I figured the one inside the MEGA folder was the same as the one they refer to in the thread. Its apparently not and where i had my issues of confusion. Thank you for pointing this out and i have changed the PDF in OP to reflect the correct guide.

My biggest issue was with the databases not being recognized.

Yes it’s frustrating because once you get everything installed, you have to hop back to the How To guide to use the program. So for me, I read the How To guide, used the Install guide and then went back to the How To guide

I had an installer from like three years ago, never got working. Hopefully I can get this one installed correctly. I have a dedicated laptop for this stuff...

What did you do with the "BMW_ISPI_ISTA-DATA..." file? It's in the mega folder but isn't mentioned in the install guide. But it says "data" so I'm curious if it's needed.

Never touched that file.... Did you do this exact sequence? This is what I did so not sure if this helps...

unblock.exe before starting anything
reboot
download and install EasyBMWTools setup.exe
NetFramework 4.6.2.exe
VC Redist Links - I did the 86 and 64.exe
Download and unzip the 3 Rheingold files
unblock.exe again
Reboot

I'm assuming you did because you actually have the program pulled up. I'm just thinking one of those steps might have something to do with how data is pulled from the program.

I didn't run unblock 2x. And I already have the latest Versions of NET on my laptop it seemed as well as the Microsoft Visual C++ but I didn't go down to 2010 as I already had 2017 installed

I think I fixed it. I moved the Rheingold folder to "Program Files" and for grins re opened it and no database error this go. So I think I'm good now.

I only wanted this damn program to try and reset my airbag level sensors cuz my passenger side keeps deflating periodically and randomly. Actually thought it was fixed because it didn't lose air for 4 straight days. Then yesterday after breakfast I came out and it was low riding again! FML. I don't believe it's the bags cuz again it's so sporadic at times. Other times it'll do it every time I park.

Do you know of a cheat sheet or how-to guide to perform popular functions? If I didn't find someone's post with screen shots and step by step instructions on how to manually trigger the pump motor for the brake bleeding process, there's no way in hell I would've ever figured that out.

Yup, here's the link. You might be able to just follow these instructions and then get in there and play around with some stuff but ISTA seems super robust. Would be awesome to figure out how to take advantage of it.

I love that there is next to no consensus on whether this is needed

To bleed the brakes? If that's what you mean, it was definitely needed for me. I went back and bled my brakes 3-4 times and every time, I couldn't get air to come out. As soon as I activated that pump, literally tons of air started pouring out.

ISTA+

My install on a fresh install windows 7 running in parallels on a mid 07 black MacBook.

We just bought the car so I wanted to check a few things. In light of the service bulletin to change batteries every 2 years, how old was mine. Last battery change was never. What was actually installed on the car, as in an equipment list. I printed it out. Brake age, how to reset oil changes and other service. Think of it as a service book, it's that and more.

You can reset everything from idrive. Much faster. Where did you find how old your battery was? Whats bmw charge for them these days? Mine supposedly was changed at least once. At least my SA said they change every other oil change and the last oil change I had them do (and only one) under my service plan she said it was done last change.
