Yeah oem is the be$t that’s why they cost so much $$$$ but if the insurance will cover it let them .Most I have seen usually do the aftermarket ones.

Choose your insurer carefully!!! Not all will allow OEM, and that sucks. Here are some that will for sure (carriers Not listed may have an endorsement for OEM so ask your broker): AIG PCG, Chubb, Cincinnati, PURE, Nationwide Private Client, Vault, Berkeley One, QBE.

Why are you or your insurance paying for anything!!!? The idiot installer is the one who broke your windshield cuz he doesn't know what he's doing. They should be paying for it!

Never put your claim in someone else's hands. Have your carrier handle it, and they will surrogate. Your carrier cares about you. The installer's carrier cares about paying as little as possible. They don't have a contract to indemnify you after loss.

Not bad, but why are you paying for sensor and moulding? That, by definition, is not full glass. There is an example of carrier coverage quality.
And insofar as liability (previous comment), don't confuse liability with a willingness or ability to pay. No relation. |

well i went with a bodyshop not with the one that my insurance is suggesting. i found out that safelite is the glass specialist that my insurance has been working with over the years! decided to go thru them instead and no longer have to pay the moulding and sensor

Ok. See what is happening? You are losing your choice...OEM and you pay for sensor and moulding, or use our cheaper glass and we will take care of everything. That is not good cover IMO (I have worked in insurance industry for 30 years).
Make sure the Safelite glass is the same as OEM. Ask them. Their brand isn't for sure. They might be able to get you OEE. Thickness, tint, etc differs once you aren't with OEM or OEE (equivalent...made by reputable companies like PPG). Safelite not bad, but it is mass market glass. Is that the kind of car you have? (Rhetorical). |
