Every 7.5k-8k. I need to top off 2 quarts of oil every 3.5-4k so just do it when need to top off again.

Do you want suggestions other than the CBS (condition based service) interval recommended by BMW...and what the car is going to communicate to you with? Just do a simple google/internet search and you'll find THOUSANDS of recommendations and suggestion.
At the very least...I'd stick to the interval the car's manufacturer designed. Anything more would probably be a step in what would probably be a positive direction. If you don't meet the mileage requirement...then using the time requirement is another measure:

Normally I change it every 4k-5k miles (n63tu engine) or each time it wants a change even if I've only driven it for 1k miles. Last year I've only driven it for 3k miles but changed it twice.

More often is better especially if you have diesel. My mechanic friend also recommends 7,500 kms. Search the forum for EGR or cbu and you will learn why it's better to change the oil on a regular basis. If you feel the used oil with your fingers, it will feel gritty which is what your engine has to deal with. There's also a difference in oils which you can read about in the forum. Basically, stick to the BMW certification for the oil.
If you are going to change it yourself to save some money, make sure your bucket is big enough. I learned that the hard way. Lol. |

BMW claims every 10k miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.
Personally I do every 7.5k miles

My Blackstone reports reflect a 7k mile interval is appropriate for my driving.

An indie warned me to go 5k miles with that turbocharger. I was doing 7500 on my non turbo E70. The additional frequency is not going to put me in the poor house so 5000 miles it is.
