The only conceivable way, that I can see you getting 560 miles on a tank of gas in an X5M, would be if it were a diesel. And they don't make a diesel X5M.

When, I completely fill up my vehicle, it states that my fuel mileage is approximately 420 miles. And that is probably going the speed limit, and not 85-90 mph.

Do you Guys have 100 litre tanks in the US?

We have 85l here in Europe, best I can get is around 400 miles on a tank but that's exceptional.

My comment was entirely curiosity, not concern. That would be like buying a sledgehammer to tap in brad nails.

Well, that was embarrassing. 560 range should be actual 460.

To be totally honest, neither of my vehicles ever makes it pass 1/2 tank, as I always fill it up. Something that has been drilled into me, from being in the Marines. So, I can't actually tell you what my mileage actually is, but the gauge says that my fuel range is 420 miles when I fill up.

I get about 11.1 - 11.3 avg MPG with a Stage1 ECU tune. My M6 gets higher 13MPG with the same tune.

That's an average= around town stuff.

Interesting anomaly, running from ALB to Denver..car was cracking off 21.4s (mpg) left and right. Yes I was resetting mpg computer very very frequently to attempt to adjust for wind, heavy heavy cross winds on I25 north. Right on edge of torque curves at 21-2200 rpms running 88mph ( indicated 90, V 1 in place)I have checked mileage via fill up and pencil/paper against miles driven and found car computer extremely accurate. Just sayin'

I'm curious: do you have 20" or 21" wheels? I reset the car's computer and set the cruise to 85mph and was seeing almost 19mpg. They do say the larger you go in wheel diameter, the more you lose in efficiency and I have 21s...

Standard 21' with MPSS's..I'm wondering if altitude/ air density ( resistance) has anything to do with. Resistance I would think is determined by rolling diameter a/ tread width and stickiness

I will fill up tomorrow morning, take a picture of stated range, and post tomorrow. I recently put a tune, so I am curious to see any change. I am gertting on the pedal even more, but it also feels tremendously better driving it. As if someone loosened all the rubber bands - free power without constraints.

I tried driving exclusively in manual mode in order to have using the paddles become second nature, so that when I finally jump into the Ferrari, it's seamless. Nope. Maybe it's because a lot of the sound is isolated in the X5, but I'll find myself tooling around at way too high an rpm and then it just becomes a pain. I don't like the more aggressive transmission modes and have found a happy balance to drive it in auto mode and give a quick stab of the accelerator pedal to have the tranny kick down. The funny thing is it's usually better if you stab the pedal (allowing it to return to the idle position) and then get back on the gas hard vs just stomping on the gas pedal. Sometimes when just stomping right away I've had it where it just sits there with a long pause before anything happens and then "oh! I need to shift!" and then it throws you back...very annoying. I also hate the fact that the paddles are mounted on the steering wheel and not on the column. I think I watched a Harry's garage video where I saw him go from using the paddles to the center tunnel lever depending on if he was turning. That just seems like a pain.

Ran from Parker, Co ( SE of Denver)to Basalt Co ( near Aspen)yesterday. Filled car took 9.4 gal to go 195 miles, average speed 75-80 mph uphill and down hill on I 70 . I'm pretty happy with it!

You probably already know about this, but have you customized your M1/M2 buttons?

I usually drive around with the suspension in sport and everything else in comfort for higher gas mileage.

My M2 button is set just a tad bit more aggressive than that with rev setting and shift point on sport. Could be made more aggressive.

My M1 button is set as if I was at the track, all sport+ and MDM.

So I essentially have 4 modes: standard startup comfort setting upon startup, my typical settings, M2, and M1. (I would love to know if there is a way to customize the standard startup setting too)

Hope it helps.

No i get it... i just hate it when the engine is lugging around at 1500 rpm in 30-50mph
traffic... which is most of what I drive day to day.
