Aluminum corrodes, especially I would imagine with road salt. Also, look up “duralumin” which is a 2000 series alloy that is more susceptible to corrosion. His reason was, “i wanted to get the kit to you as soon as possible.” Um...i prefer getting what was advertised in the kit.
Damn since I'm always Surfcasting up here I'm always by the salt water so this is going to weigh on my mind all day. Dang it.

I'll grab a set once my rig is out of warranty if I still have it.

Pretty much my entire vehicle is getting painted and the M logos are beat up and calipers could use some love. Giving them the treatment even though the rears are stock.

As someone else pointed out, the OEM 612s hide the calipers a good amount anyway. As much as I like the look of your calipers a lot!

I really do think that, I’m going to grab a set. Just need to check with my tech to see what the cost is to install them. Since, I’ll be at their shop tomorrow, to have my E63 AMG air suspension lowered.

I did it, I purchased my own set of these Panamera rear calipers with brackets. I paid $1796, and also purchased a set of PowerStop Z23 Carbon Ceramic Pads to go with them.
My tech quoted me $250 to install/bleed them. This will be a nice little upgrade, compared to the ugly single piston floating caliper. And my next upgrades will be CF mirror covers, front splitter and rear diffuser.

Cool!

I think maybe I'll upgrade the rear calipers if I keep my rig and eventually tune it. Or if I get the itch again some time after all of this cosmetic work, which is entirely possible.

They definitely look much better than stock.

I can't confirm, but I do believe that they provide a better clamping force on the rear pads, compared to the single piston caliper. I mean four pistons are better then one.

Definitely a nice to have addition.

I probably shouldn't say IF... Because I'm sure it will be a WHEN I get them.

Wish I knew about them sooner, might have had them installed prior to putting my rig in the shop. Would be nice to have them all painted up at the same time.

I'll use up my warranty and maintenance on my stock setup as much as possible, then pull the trigger at some point when my wallet has cooled down from everything I'm doing right now!

There is no doubt that these are some really nice rear calipers, and they blend nicely with the fronts. They are however Brembo's after all, but were designed to fit a Porsche Panamera, but with the mounting bracket will fit your X5M.
And the purchase price isn't bad either. And you can ask them to paint them, in your favorite color. But, I like the Laguna Beach Blue.
A month ago, I just installed new rotors and pads, and will soon pay again But these are definitely a nice upgrade for any X5M.

Rubbing it in my face are you?!

I just sent him a message about them, because I'm obviously addicted. Had my vehicle 3 months, drove it for 1, and outspending all of the old vehicles I've been driving for the past 10 years on this one rig...

Yes, just a little bit Look at this ugly caliper and compare it to what you could have. The answer is perfectly clear. Upgrade

I spend a ton more money on my E63, but now that it's all dialed in. I can give the X5M some love. I see CF mirror covers, front splitter and rear diffuser in my future.

For better clamping I think we need to have the master cylinder adjusted or changed somehow. I changed over to ceramic as I couldn't take the noise any longer so the stopping power isn't very noticeable.

They just look nice.

I should have my mud flap idea done soon so I'll post some pics for you guys.

I want to get some updated rotors with a Cnc machined hat. They would look awesome.

There is a company called Coleman Racing that manufactures custom friction rings, whether there crossed drilled, slotted, plain or a combination. I was looking into having custom friction rings made for my E63, as I had aluminum hats for it. They quoted me roughly $350 per ring. But these friction rings are to two piece rotors, and not for BMWs. Although BMW have their own unique two piece rotors, and Mercedes-AMG have rotors that are similar in design.

I think that maybe the proportioning valve, would need to be adjusted to shift more brake pressure to the rear. But that would throw off the whole vehicle. The car is already set up for a 70/30 split.

It really depends. I was waiting until I had the stock calipers off of the car to measure the diameter of the piston. You can use a calculator like this to see how far off the four piston setup is:

Well, my new 4 piston rear calipers are currently out for delivery, after making there way here from Riga Latvia. And, I scheduled an appointment for installation tomorrow @ 1300. Can't wait to get them installed.

For those that might have had some doubt. My Brembo rear calipers have finally arrived. These things look better in person. The only thing that didn't come in the box, was the rotor retaining screw. But, I didn't need them anyway. Tomorrow can't come soon enough for me.
