Well, you asked and you shall receive. Today, I had the Brembo Rear Calipers installed at Benz Elite Automotive in Fairfax Va. I paid $227 for the caliper installation and full brake flush.

We did hit one very tiny snag, the new braided brake hose didn't fit into the bracket that holds the brake line and the hard line, where they fasten together. So Emile took a grinder and 10 seconds later it fit perfectly. The new braided lines fitting is larger then the OEM brake hose.

The new calipers had everyone in the shop checking them out, and they all agree that this was a nice upgrade. And we install Power Stop Carbon Ceramic pads to match the front pads, so dust will not be an issue.

They match up perfectly with the color of the front calipers, and I have to admit look amazing. And the big thing is that they look as if they were always meant to be on the vehicle in the first place. If you contemplating doing this to your X5M, don't think about it, just do it.

For some weird reason but this forum will not allow me to upload from my phones photo gallery.

Looks really good! They painted them really well. Is the //M logo under a clear coat? I know some of the front calipers that have logos on top of the clear have them fading.

These are on my wish list!!

I wonder how these effect rotor wear. Is the brake pad larger?

To be totally honest, I don't know for sure, whether its a sticker or under the clear coat, as I never rubbed on my hand over it. But for the fronts, I just replaced the ///M sticker with new ones from eBay.

Yes, the pads are much larger, with more surface area for the pads to bite into the rotor. The old pads are tiny compared to the new ones. Rotor wear should be much less, as I'm using carbon ceramics pads now.

For a comparison, I run carbon ceramic pads on my E63 AMG for the last two years, and the rotors show no signs a wear. As carbon ceramic pads are more rotor friendly, with less brake dust but lose that great initial bite that the OEM pads are famous for.

For those that don't know, these rear Brembo calipers are from a Porsche Panamera, Tronik Engineering just machines a rear mounting bracket, which makes installing a no brainer, and the fit and finish is spot on. A lot of effort went into this for perfect fitment, trust me.

Here are some photos for rotor wear comparison on my E63 AMG, after two years of using Power Stop Carbon Ceramic Pads.

As an incentive, Tronik Engineering just sent me a coupon code for their online store on eBay.

Extra 5% off with code THANKSFORORDER You can save 5 percent for any of their products https://ebay.us/C4QGaU

This coupon code will save you about $85 off the rear calipers. Or anything else they have on eBay.

I have to admit, these rear calipers should have come of our vehicles from the start. The one thing, that I hate is seeing German vehicles with a big 6 piston calipers up front with one tiny single piston caliper in the rear. This trend is among every German manufacturer. I first started seeing this with AMG, about 6 years ago.

I checked the calipers, and the ///M logos are stickers, just like the front calipers. And not clear coated over like, I thought.

Of course, you had the vision and inspiration, that started it for me. And I absolutely love this mod. I hope that many others follow your lead. Thank you….Sir.

You guys figure out the technical/electronic braking percentage piece of the installation (if you haven't already?), I'll be grabbing these as soon as my brakes are out of warranty and maintenance. Maybe before, we'll see.

Love that look.

I'm not going to mess with the braking bias. I like it, just the way it is.

Same. If anything I've lost some braking juice since I went with non train squealing brakes. Life is good. Instead of braking I just scrub speed.

Nice to see others taking advantage of Tronik's rear caliper upgrade kit. It's really a shame he was banned as he is a wealth of knowledge and has a lot to offer to the community. A couple things to note ...at some point Tronik swapped the rear caliper to the VW Touareg version. They're still brembos and are similar to the Panamera's but are different. Those who ordered more recently (probably in the last 6 months or so) are getting the Touareg variant. With going from a single piston to 4 at each rear corner you 100% have to and should code increasing the brake fluid booster pressure so that more brake fluid is pushed to the rear calipers. The brake pedal should be high and firm. The change is very noticeable post-coding. I also did the 400mm M5 rotor conversion upfront so anyone has any questions about that let me know.

This is quite a popular upgrade for the Non-M group...more info here including the coding instructions:

Totally agreed. If I upgrade, no messing around with braking. Safety first. And I want as much performance as possible.

Almost there! I'll get some better pictures when she is done and done.

How about black mirrors and the front bumper crossbeam above the lower grille?
