Introduction - Couple Questions

Hi all,

Firstly, got to say I've learned a lot about the F15 while perusing this part of the forum - thank you to everyone that contributes!

I'm moving from an E91 and looking for an Xdrive 35i in the near future. I've been looking in the usual places - Autotrader, Craiglist, and this forum.

Question: Is it harder to find F15s that are well-optioned than M cars and the other BMW sedans? It seems not as many people sell them peer-to-peer which has me endlessly viewing pictures on rather uninformed sites.

Am I missing the SUV trader marketplace somewhere? I've bought and sold 5+ M cars and other BMWs in the past. It seemed like it was easier to find the right car in the right spec vs this F15 search. I know BMW sold quite a few of these, so I thought the marketplace supply would be plentiful and easy to navigate.

I was also going to ask about the xDrive40e, but after some reading think I'll just stick with the 35i for a number of reasons.

Appreciate any tips you all have and look forward to helping out around here where I can!

There's less M cars on the roads than non, with that said M cars are pretty much fully loaded by default with only a few options that could be optioned. At the same time if you're looking for F15 35i, specific color combo, mileage, and options which there is way more of, then you find yourself sifting through more stock. There's a few F15s for sale on the classifieds at the moment. Depending on what specific spec you're after, it might be tougher to find.

Market is tight. Specifically Msport model. Base is everywhere.

Appreciate the feedback. It echos what I'm seeing.

Yeah, there are some really base, base rides out there. I'm really only after the seats, not necessarily M Sport, so that helps. Narrowing them down reliably is tough, however.

Not true with diesel models. Finding an Msport diesel with a lot of other options proved VERY difficult. We gave up after a year of searching and settled on a heavily optioned X-line. Seems original purchasers of diesels rarely selected the Msport. And if they did, they didn't usually select much else.

I've seen some exceptions posted here on this site that I am envious of. Would have loved to find something optioned like ours is with the Msport package.

Yet another reason I'm pleased to be a Brit (nothing wrong with patriotism). I've got a MSport 40d (that's 309 bhp and 464 lb ft, it's not a 35d), bought when 18 months old, that came with the following options:

DHP
HUD
Pano Roof
Comfort Seats
Leather Dash
HK sound
Soft Close doors
Only has Xenon lights, but still has high beam assist and anti-dazzle

Took a couple of months of searching to find, and had to travel 80 miles to view and buy. I think the spec is maybe rare (primarily due to DHP) but it's no unicorn in the UK

Not where I live. I was in the market for an M4 before purchasing my x6 50i and all I could find on cargurus, autotrader and bmw dealers here in Oregon were pretty bare in terms of options. They all had backup camera and some had blindspot detection, but none had the leather dash, merino interior, ACC, no special colors like austin yellow or yas marina blue, absolutely all were either black or white, and of course no carbon fiber roof.

With M cars I kind of get it. The strippers are always worth more at the end of their lifespan. But with an SUV that's primary job is to accomplish anything, just gimme all the stuff, so I can accomplish, well... anything!

Hope you find the vehicle you're looking for (and that it doesn't turn up 2 weeks after you bought the vehicle you settled for)

Right, I'll probably have to stop searching immediately after!

Update:

Purchased a relatively well options Msport Mineral White Xdrive 35i last night.

Options:
Msport
20" wheels which I told them to keep. Preferred the 19" luxury wheels. Flamesuit on. More to come there later.
Comfort Seats
H/K
3rd row
HUD
Rear climate controls ("4 zone?")
Premium package (comfort, heated fronts, etc.)
Soft Close doors, which I'm oddly excited about.
Rear sund shades
LED Lights package - equally excited about

No special suspension systems which I'm fine with. Means cheaper replacements in the future. I like a fresh suspension over a fancy one, so this is ok with me. Will likely put in new Bilstein B4s and bump stops sometime soon.

Car has 67k miles on it.

Thing I like the most so far:
- Pretty comfy and lux with the 19s and donut tires

Thing I like the least so far:
- Everything you touch seems to creak much more than any other BMW I've owned. Was like this in a couple of them I drove. Ah well...

I'll make an intro thread with pics soon!
