NEED BMW Coding in DMV Area

Hi guys,

Could you please contact me or share info with me if you know someone doing BMW coding in DC, Maryland and Virginia area? I am hoping to code my 2017 X6 (iDrive 5, NBTevo_J) so Apple CarPlay can be full screen.

Thanks!

Jay did mine. He knows the iDrive system pretty well.

Thank you for sharing! I just texted him.
Btw, did you drive to Jay? How long did the coding take?

I had someone from this forum code it for me remotely. After getting the program it's a 10 minute job from start to end.

That is sweet. I think mine will take longer since it is iDrive 5 and I am hoping to drive the car to the coding guy. And thanks for replying!

You could buy the BimmerCode app and Bluetooth OBD Adapter and code studs yourself.

He met me in my office in Herndon and the whole thing - CarPlay + other coding took an hour or so. Coding makes a huge difference in the experience. I believe he works on BMW software. He can also meet you in BMW of Sterling. His own X7 M50i is pretty sweet. LOL.

The cool thing was that he can do a lot of advanced stuff that I am not sure you can pull off without proper knowledge of the system. Anyway, lots of options and good luck!

Mine was locked by BMW and I used to use the B2B permission to code my 2018 since it was updated as part of the CPO process in early Dec.

I also liked that he let me test the lower speed for the blind spot monitoring. I ended up turning it off because the sensors would go crazy which he also did for me (had advised me against it). The good stuff:

1. Full screen CarPlay. I just use CarPlay now and apps like Waze seems to work better on my F15 than a recent G05 I had as a loaner.

2. Turned off all warnings and changed the BMW chime/sound to Rolls Royce - which is more calming.

3. Bunch of improvements to the lights, inside and out.

4. Ability to drive at any speed with front camera on. Useful when your window is iced up. LOL.

5. Being able to control open, close of tailgate and folding mirrors, windows etc with FOB.

You can probably do most of this using the app and such, but getting it done with an expert was good. Also, after I had to recode my iDrive after I installed my MPBK, he redid my coding for free…

If you have the HK audio, you can turn on the B&O equalizer etc.

Anyway, have fun!

That is insane! I really want to get mine carplay fullscreen. And I do not enjoy that BMW chime/sound either. The functions you have with FOB sounds nice too. I am still waiting for Jay to reply me, haha.
I appreciate all your provided info!
