Gas level wrong

Gas level is showing 1/4 despite tank being full.
Tried to read any error code unsuccessful.

Any ideas?

Sounds possible that you have a faulty fuel level sending unit. The diesels have one on each side of the tank would image gas is similar. While I don't think it's common for them to go south, I have read others having them replaced.

Curious .... what does your miles to empty report? Does it report like its a full tank or 1/4?

Well that sucks .... guess you know pretty much your full take range so resetting your trip odometer will at least give ya a ball park idea.

Having the same problem after buying my X5 used - I pulled the rear seat on my e70 to access the sending units. Then, I pulled the connectors and cleaned the contacts with Contact Cleaner.

When you say "pull" you mean totally remove ? Any pictures on where is this plug?

Thank you

under the 2nd row seat.

It's been awhile but I recall you just pull upwards forcibly at the corner of the bottom cushion to unsnap it.

Look some time to look at it a bit today. Could not remove the caution as the seat seem hard…
I think f15 is a bit different than prior version and I have the third row as well.

Also took a trip a few days ago until gas said 0 then went to a gas station a few steps away. The indicator ended up showing "- - -" for the mileage.
I presume the fuel pumps are fine and it's really the one of the sensor as you said.

Yes, I was recalling that from my E70.

Yours seem to be held down with torx bolts possibly? There are F15 videos on Youtube I scrolled past.
