TPM Malfunction help

Hello! First post. I recently purchased a '16 CPO 35i M Sport after having my E70 for 6 years. My F15 came with the 469s w/Pirelli PZeros. I found a local F15 M Sport owner who was selling his 467s w/GoodYear all-seasons because he recently upgraded to the 20s. This was perfect for me since I need something for the winter.

So after I mounted the 467s, I keep getting the TPM malfunction after trying to perform a tire pressure reset. The first time I tried to reset, the 'resetting tire pressure' display message got up to 30% and then I got the TPM malfunction. Since then, I tried a dozen more times on different days and it won't even get past 0% now.

BTW, these 467s has rubber stems, shouldn't they be metal?

Pic of my ride (before the wheel swap!)

Welcome to the Forum, and Congratulations on your X5!

Are the batteries in the sensors still good? Only other thing that comes to mind is that after a reset, do need to drive for a bit for the calibration to take; however, I presume you did so.

Hopefully, some members will be able to better trouble-shoot your issue.

Yes after I drive 2 miles or so when it is 'checking the pressure', the TPM malfunction will come up.

I thought about the batteries but in theory these batteries should last around 9 years or so? These shouldn't be more than 4 years or so at the most..

This might sound dumb, but did you check to ensure the tires have proper pressure? I ask this because they will not reset if the pressure is out of range.

You could also bring it by a local tire shop to check battery life, although I agree, it's too early for them to be dead. This could also confirm whether TPMS is even installed, however.

Yes I filled them before mounting and then doubled checked the pressures again after the second or third time it wouldn't reset.

Sounds like you don't have tpms sensors. The valve stems should be metal.

Did you put the ///M badge on the fender or it came that way? I think that was standard for EU market.

Yep, what the others said. It sounds like they might not be installed. Using a battery tester from the local tire shop will confirm it.

You can get TPMS with rubber stems..... Check the thread I posted about a similar issue.
