Yeah, it's heavy and has some sharp edges - be careful with it I almost cut my fingers while handling it.

Love seeing everyone getting this done! Still love the sound. A Maserati was showing off his exhaust yesterday so i gave it a quick blip off the throttle and got a thumbs up.

More deets around this? Is it actual drone or just the sound of the exhaust? I had a bad experience with drone in my last vehicle so I'm asking a ton of questions around this. I don't mind it being louder, just can't have the reverberation of drone.

Perhaps it's not drone. I had a titanium exhaust on my old M3 that drones like crazy and made everything vibrate. This is not like that.

Agreed. It's very slight and almost need the drive at a certain RPM and work to keep it there for you to notice it. I think in lower gears between like 2400-2500 RPM. It's like that's small of a band for that drone. (I believe)

Easy solution is to always drive in Sport+.

BTW, you going to the meet today?

Anyone else have their CEL on after doing this?
I can clear it with E-Sys but it comes back a few days later

There shouldn't be any CEL - since you are just removing rear muffler - it has nothing to do with CEL and has no sensors whatsoever. Is it possible that during the process some wiring was accidentally damaged/cut or O2 sensor wire or plug on stock cats was pulled by mistake?

P.S. Also, since you have e-sys - there should be a specific code for CEL - what exactly is it?

Naturally instead of muffler - you are going to weld in some L-shape pipes (mandrel bent) and attach tips to them. That's it.

P.S. Mandrel bent only means they use a machine that bends them smoothly and nicely without edges. Sorry for typos
Hey DuSh do you have this picture of the undercarriage without any of the writing on it?

Thanks!

Another thing is that it turns out rear muffler is attached by clamps only - so it's possible to just unclamp and take whole part out and store it for when you'll need to revert it back

But in that case will need some extended pipes and tips. I'm thinking we can even go with double tips if we want to, like any type that will fit in the opening in the bumper - could be black tips or blue color ones and I guess any shape if it fits nicely
DuSh,

Did you end up going with quad tips?

When I finally got to muffler shop - I wanted to do this mod same day, right away without ordering and waiting for tips from ebay/amazon. So ended up reusing oem M Sport trapezoid tips I got when I bought M Sport conversion body kit (that's another little project I did). Painted them black and it looks good, but I think quad tips do look meaner. So if you have patience to chose and order quad tips and will to do it properly - respect to you man. Don't forget to post pics!

A bunch of us went with the quad tips. If you're using the app, you can easily look at all the pics that were put up. I also went with Quad tips and had mine angled.

Just wish there was a way to easily get it into nuetral without having to get in the brakes to get it back in drive. I miss not having a clutch.

Went by my local shop this morning to run through the muffler delete, X-pipe and quad tip install. They said it should be a piece of cake and can keep the stock tips connected to the muffler in the case I want to but everything back. They didn't have any quad tips to choose from so just ordered these guys as well as an X-pipe to save a few bucks. Should be in the week after Thanksgiving - will post an update after install!

X-Pipe -https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Quad tips- https://www.ebay.com/itm/253809996477

Looking forward to seeing your final product.

I think I know the sound I'm looking for. When I cold start the stock exhaust in the morning, that's the sound I would like when accelerating and maybe a little less than that when idling.

They removed the mufflers and put the X pipe in and the light has been coming on since. It also sounds like I have a pop-pop-bang map when coasting in 2nd gear!
I dont know how to read the codes in esys. I will do some research and see.
Dealer also cleared it as it was back firing but it still returned.
