Do you have yours heated..? I just found out this one isn’t and I don’t think it’s possible to make it heated

I'm looking for a Alcantara covered wheel that is heated, and I truly don't think that anyone makes one for the X5M. I love the Alcantara, but also love my heated wheel, especially this morning when it was 32 degrees outside.
I finally had a clean my Alcantara covered steering wheel in my Mercedes E63 AMG on Tuesday, after installing it over a year ago. I could feel the smoothness of the Alcantara as it was starting to get matted.

Simple solution. Send in your or a X5M or M3/4 heated steering wheel to Mike at CobyWheel. That's what I did. He usually has the cores on-hand too which makes it even easier, you send yours after install with a deposit ahead.

can you post a picture of yours? I know they usually wrap them pretty thick and not like OEM one.

Mine feels thicker but marginally. This is the one on my M3. He's working on the X5 one now.

Mike is the man, he also did my E91 M Conversion (heated), E46 M wagon, E46 M3 and E60 M5 (heated) and a few other friend's cars.

This looks nice......I've been strongly considering an alcantara steering wheel for my X5M. I already have one in my Mercedes E63 AMG.

I actually found someone in Poland (found them via eBay) they reupholster steering wheels and it looks super high quality. The company will reupholster a heated version of f85 wheel and make it look oem with same thickness.. 599 for the wheel without having to ship mine. I’d say that’s a sweet deal!

Well last night, I placed my order for an Black Alcantara covered steering wheel with tri-color stitching and blue 12 o’clock centering stripe, best of all it comes with the heating option from Coby Wheel.

Total Cost $278.50, breakdown new steering wheel $225, strip $12, shipping $28.50 and tax $13.00. I will have to pay another $300, when they ship the new wheel to me for the core exchange, which will be refunded when I return my old wheel to them.

Essentially your paying to exchange your old for there new, you can however ship them your wheel, and they’ll be happy to cover it for you. But that leaves your vehicle undeliverable.

This was by far the cheapest option for me, as I was considering buying the $1200 M Steering Wheel from BMW. But it didn’t retain the heated option, which is a must have for me, as my OEM wheel is heated. Besides it is starting to get cold here in Northern Virginia.

For those of you that ran into issues with trying to order a new wheel from Coby Wheels, I hope the below correspondence helps.

So, I asked Michael Lemon Owner of Coby Wheels a few questions.

So let me understand this, if I ship my existing wheel to you, you can wrap it in Alcantara for $225 plus shipping? Do you have any existing wheels that are ready to be shipped out on Alcantara? I really don’t want to ship out my current wheel, as this vehicle is a daily driver, and so that would leave me empty handed. So what options do I have ? I’ve looked over your website but still couldn't ascertain how to place an order for an Alcantara steering wheel for my 2015 F85 X5M.

He said to me...... Yes the price is $225. If wheel is listed on the site, I have cores on hand but do not wrap until ordered and I am currently running roughly 3 weeks out on wheel orders (I would charge you a core deposit when wheel is ready to ship) then refund deposit when you send back replacement. Sorry for the issue, the F85 is basically the F80 (trim package might be different) but wheel is the same (look at picture to confirm) But order the DCT M Sport wheel then follow up with email to confirm heated/non heated steering wheel option. To be clear all prices are listed in the dropdown menus as well as core terms and core deposit cost etc.

$225 to wrap no stripe
$28.50 Shipping
$300 Core
$13.00 Tax

And don't forget to email me, and tell me whether or not you want the heated or non heated wheel option.

So I placed my order for a new Black Alcantara Wheel. I haven't heard back from him yet, but this is a Thanksgiving. Hopefully I will hear something on Friday-Saturday.

This is my current wheel below. This is got me to thinking, if he would wrap a non BMW wheel?

Mike has been great to me. He's usually just a few days behind but he did answer me the other day and told me he was blessed to have a wave of orders. He's done countless wheels for me since 2015.

I think that Mike is going to get a hell of a lot more orders. After owners read this thread. 😁
