Question Replacement Tires Input?

Hi folks,

Looking for your input. Sorry if I’m duplicating but couldn’t find a previous discussion on this topic in the scores of pages of threads.

After 37K miles, I need to replace the original tires that came on my 2015 X5 xDrive 35d (F15) when I bought it new. Don’t know what is best or what I should consider getting. I’m an around town and freeway driver, rarely on ice or in snow, but I don’t want to rule out that possibility. I have a bunch of questions:

- Other than the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season tires that came on the vehicle, should I consider some other brand because they’re better?

- Should I consider non-RunFlat?

- For this next set, should I rotate them regularly? I was told that rotating the originals would void the manufacturer warranty. Other than the tire pressure monitors being reversed, I can’t think of why there would be this prohibition.

Do you all have any experience and/or ideas for me to consider?

Thanks!

Conti DWS06 in Non-Run Flat. What many people go with.

If you have a 19" square setup, no issues with rotating the tires from the front to the back.

Yes you should. Check the threads above

What manufacturer warranty? For the car? For the tires? Rims?Sounds like BS to me, if you run square non-directional set up you SHOULD rotate tires. If you have staggered set you still can move them left/right but won't be able to switch axels (if tires are not directional).

Ditch run flats, pick whatever tires you want, enjoy your F15 and user search button. If you asking question provide details which are important to the matter, such as what wheels do you have on your car right now.

1. Rotation doesn’t void the warranty...but according to the owners manual...BMW recommends NOT to rotate them (it just a recommendation not a requirement). And if you do decide to rotate...it also gives additional recommendations. And it also depends on if you have a “square” or “staggered” wheel/tire set-up...you didn’t give any details as to what you have mounted.

2. Just an FYI...the TPM sensors send a signal (when rotating) to the RDC module...so it doesn’t matter what axle position the wheel is located...it will give that data to the RDC module.

3. I would highly recommend spending some time on TireRacks website (www.TireRack.com) . They have a TIRE DECISION GUIDE link on the site that will walk you through some questions that will narrow down tires that fit criteria that fits your personal preference, finances, and geographical/climatic conditions. You can then red the many surveys, reviews, tests etc for any tire brand/model that piques your interest. YOu can buy from them or take the info you glean from the site and shop locally.
