Want to do a dyno before and after the tune.
Anyone in Chicago area that could recommend a good place to do it?
I'd probably swap in new air filters, just to make sure that wasn't an obstacle. They're a 5-minute job. Our x50is will take the X5M filters interchangeably, and they've got more surface area so they breathe better and last longer. These totally make sense, since a BM3 tune makes the 50i make as much power and move as much air as the X5M. Doesn't make sense to pay $900 for a tune and some more $ for dyno time when a couple of $45 filters are holding the engine back.

Part numbers are 13-71-7-850-055 (right side) and 13-71-7-850-056 (left side).

I get mine here: https://www.getbmwparts.com/v-2017-b...ation--filters

Toyo Proxes 4, good cheap tire, no complaints in 15k. Didn’t feel too much wheelspin on that run but definitely need new tires very soon.

Going to try another run today and when I get new tires installed.

She still running strong. Stage 2, since added M6 comp exhaust. Sounds nice with a lil turbo spool.

Been playing around with E30, firm believer in ethanol power. FYI, BM3 is soon to announce a CAN-BUS ethanol input sensor tied to DME for real time adjustments to ethanol content. Also looks like on the fly map changes (similar to JB4)

JB4 N63TU Install DIY

Hi,

Anyone installed JB4 on 2014 F15 and would share installation instructions? BMS manual is not applicable for N63TU on F15s.

Thank you; greatly appreciated. Just got a response today from the BMS support that they do not have X5 specific install guide. So they sent me this:

423 awhp / 478 awtq on AWD Dynojet

-Dinan Stage 1
-Dinan Cold Air Intake
-260GT 100 Octane
-DSC & DST Off (this was the only way the engine wouldn't downshift, but it would only work in Comfort mode). Holding down the DSC button for 5 seconds would always flip it back to Comfort mode. Spent about 20 minutes fooling around with the settings with the technician and Comfort mode was the only option. I'm sure others have had this issue...dyno noob here.

Not that impressed with the numbers compared to what others have posted here with BM3. Would Sport + really have made a difference if I was somehow able to make it work? Maybe I need to reassess Dinan...That said the technician said the power gains were smooth as hell.

Technician commented that his AWD dynojet typically results in a 22% HP loss when measuring atw, so he thought ~516hp was the number.

Wanted to share a video because the sound was intoxicating in person. Funny how we never get to truly hear our own cars!

For stage 1, it's not bad at all.
Maybe not as high as other results of I know. But those were mostly custom tunes. OTS tunes are giving similar numbers as yours (60-80 whp and torque). You can definitely increase those numbers by dyno-tuning a custom tune to your car. You need to data log and see what's what. I might be wrong but I believe the throttle load when you floor the car is not 100% all the way throughout the rpm band with Dinan (maybe 60-80%). It is definitely a conservative tune. But kudos. Enjoy the beast.

Thanks man! I guess I just did a quick compare to some results from DuSh and felt I needed to up my game immediately, haha. All things considered I am in absolute love with the beast! I am actually good with the tune and kind of feel that my build is complete.

That's the most important thing and what actually matters. There will always be other cars faster, more powerful, etc. As long as you feel good with what you have, the rest is white noise.

Hi!
What options do we have for N63t tune? I see BM3, JB4 and what else? Is JB4 better for this engine?

I have BM3 license after my previous N55 car, so can upgrade to N63t engine, just not sure what is better.

Looking for a bit more power...need to keep up with my cousins A90 tuned Supra lol.

Currently catless DP, BM3 Stage 2 (93oct), resonator/muffler delete.

What would be the most cost effective power adder from here?

I'm assuming the next step up would be an E30 to E50 tune?

Any thoughts on adding WMI+JB4? Not sure how JB4 maps for WMI would stack on top of BM3 stage 2.

Not looking to upgrade the fuel pump either.

Have anyone tried alpina st0 map with BM3? It says 600 hp. However, st1 gives something like 540hp max.

Does it make sense to flash alpina instead of st1 93?

I've flashed 600 alpina map. I use it at the drag strip with a couple gallons of e85 then flash back to s2 91 oct before I leave. Currently only has catless primary pipes.
I've ran 7.90 at 86 mph on a 1/8 mile dragstrip @ 90 degrees.

Give it a try since you're on 93 and take a log if you can then determine if yours is happily making power.

I am asking about regular 650i. Does it support this map physically?))) stock car.

Was alpina st0 better than st2?
I am not too good in reading logs.

Alpina s0+ flash is quicker than s2

A lot of assumptions but I figure since it is alpina mapping that it would account for stock alpina configuration (full OEM exhaust and so on). So off the top of my head, alpinas may have different turbos and possibly different/larger coolers from the M version.

With that being said since your stock safest bet is to stick to stage 1. Stage 2 I believe suggests you get catless DPs
Logging still recommended

When I emailed pro tuning freaks they told me that stage 2 ran more boost than alpina 600hp tune. Also the alpina tunes were designed around the different alpina turbos.

Have you tried that stage 2 e30 map? That is the most aggressive of them all for the n63tu.
