Thoughts on going to a G05
My mind is toying with getting into a G05. My 2018 X5 35d has been in the shop for 2 months and I should get it back next week after a complete fuel system replacement. I’ve had a base model G05 as a loaner for 2 months, there are things I really like about it. The front end looks great. The interior is a step up. The back end looks like shit thought
The dealer put some numbers together for a 21 45e with the excellence package but it’s huge $ In a way the G05 seems less sporty and aggressive looking than the F15. It has a bigger feeling for sure. Any others on the fence on weather to move into a new model Or maybe I just need some time back into the seat of the 18 |

I test drove a G05 before buying a 2 year old F15. They're both really nice, but like you said the G05 is big $, and with the depreciation of all X5's I couldn't justify the cost of buying a new G05 (I don't lease). What about finding a used G05? When we were looking G05 used selection was pretty slim, but now there's a lot more on the market. |

There are zero 45e on the used market locally
There is no rush on things. And the cost is well over 100 K. And the $90 K I paid a year and 6 montano seems to have taken a huge hit. Like all dealers. Expect top for the new model and offer peanut on the trade of the same brand |

I already got 2 offers from my local dealer but I love my F15. G05 interior and tech is definitely is an upgrade but exterior for me looks like shit. If I would need to get a new BMW today I would probably go for X3 40M or X3M.

A matter of taste, obviously, but a) G05 front end is horrible, and b) interior is really dependent on options.
I'm riding a loaner G05 for the last few days and while like any brand new car it pleases you with quietness and almost no rattles, if you have a heavily optioned F15, aside from larger screens, the G05 interior won't really all that impress you unless it's specked comparably.... and then you check the MSRP and just shrug. The virtual cockpit or whatever it's called is just confusing, you end up searching for info - usually speed,- and then just hope it's still there the next time. Gauges are very difficult to read quickly. Yes, it's the future and all that, but there are much better implementations. Power lower tailgate is cute, but can't help but wonder how long before it starts rattling. The side lights are just too much. Return to the regular blinker switch is a step back - but again, it's a personal preference. Engine autostop works very seamlessly and even haters will finaly accept it. Overall, obviously G05 is newer and thus better... but that front end, oof. |

Swapped cars with my father in law’s G05 40i Msport a couple weekends back. HUGE interior upgrade & power on par with a tune on an N55. I’d make the trade all day, every day. The interior leap in one generation is impressive.

It is hard to justify switching to a G05 (from a F15 50i). Maybe a F95, but still dislike the overall exterior design and the trapezoidal gauges in the cockpit. To be honest, while loving the current power-trains, the latest BMW design language kinda turns me off and I may end up switching from BMW to something else.

I still find the f15 Nappa interiors w/contrast stitching and Nappa leather dash stunning and up to par with the interiors of the G05. Granted, this is not taking into account the upgraded/exquisite Merino leather some G05s have...but the f15’s w/Nappa interiors are nice.
But the digital dash is not my taste...it reminds me of the failed digital instrument clusters from the 1980s. I prefer the traditional round gauges which is cognitively easy to understand with just a glance. Not a fan of the front end nor the rear end (reminds me of many designs from Asian manufacturers). So I’ll just wait (like I did at the end of the e38/e39/e46/e53 era) for a design that I find attractive. I kept my 97 e38 running and never gave thought of anything else until the f12/f13 came along. It made me go, hmmm. Then when BMW dropped the 4dr f06 6GC...it was on like Donkey Kong. BMW gave me a design that would snap my neck every time one went by. And I find the f15/f85 X5 chassis attractive, too. So, if what you see from BMW doesn’t light your fire...keep what you have running...and hopefully something will catch your fancy in the future.

My wife and I make fun of the new G series, the tail lights make the car look like a Volkswagen and the front grill is just cartoonish. I for one consider the Jaguar I-Pace or the Mustang Mach-e as future replacement options for my 2016 x6 50i.

2016 X5 here and don’t like the rear end of the current X5. That diaper looks huge.

Hmmm, interesting.
I have a Napa leather interior X6. When I got a loaner G05 X5, everything feels cheap. Interior in G05 feels very cheap every way. But it is very personal preference. |

I am toying with the same dilemma - get rid of my 15 and lease the new X5. However, the new Mercedes GLE looks amazing, especially with the AMG appearance package.

We’ll pass on the G 05
Nothing on offer that makes any flavor of the G 05 more desirable than our F15d.
We’ll pass on the G 05 for now, but, like others, have been impressed with the new X3M.

I would definitely go for the G05. I would recommend to get one with the M package. The exhaust note, handling and brakes really stands out in the M package.

How in the world BMW end up with this exhaust pipe design? If this would be a $25K Kia or Ford I would not say a word. But for $70000+ car we now have a piece of pipe in the bumper? |
