Different diameter. The 2/3/4 series have smaller outer diameter.
While mounting wise, I am not sure if will bolt right up.
Electronic wise, it will work.

I'm wondering the same thing. I would love to instal this wheel on the X6M. I've also thought of just re-upolstering alcantara with the race stripe on the stock wheel to keep the heated function from working since the m performance wheel looks the exactly the same with out the function. Really hope you try it out and it works for you!

I was just looking online for the M5/M6 part number for the electronic wheel and it is different then the one the OP has posted. Would you think the diameter would be the same as the X6M/X5M. Someone else just posted that they have seen it installed. Wondering if they just used the M5/6 wheel instead or if there really is a difference between the two.

M5/M6 wheels are confirmed that it won't fit.
I am not that involved in 2/3/4 series market.

The steering wheel trim size is different between X5/X6 to the other cars.
How I find out, I tried to retrofit the M car steering wheel trim into the X5/X6 before the X5M/X6M was released.
So I purchased the M3/M4/M5/M6 steering wheel trim, which are sharing the same parts.
And guess what, it is smaller by 1/4" if I remember correctly.

Awesome! If its possible would you be able to ask the owner of the car for the part number or if this was the M3/4 steering wheel vs M5/6 since the part numbers do differ? Thanks Glad to see someone made this work!

Also would anyone know if the buttons and airbags are possible to be carried over. Although r33_RGSport mentions that the wheels outer diameters are different, I wonder if the buttons and airbags would be swappable or if BMW made 2 different sizes.

It wasn't until I saw your reply that I figured out this thread was about a steering wheel, I thought the OP was trying to fit wheels (as in tires and rims) from an M3/M4. I have never heard a steering wheel referred to as just "wheel", LOL!

Someone over at the M5 board tried installing the M3/M4 steering wheel on his car and said the thread that it mounts to was completely different so there was no way for it to work. Hopefully this is actually a plug and play install for the F85.

I've talked to the workshop who installed this steering wheel on F85 and they told me that is kind of PITA work

This discussion is only about the digital display steering wheel right?

Cause i've seen people fit the M Performance wheel (I and II) a few times.

I'm guessing that's a straight order for the X5M/X6M, but the digital display version is not?

Technically it should work, that steering wheel is just getting data from CANBUS.
The rest just power.
I personally won't do it. I know that it is only ~0.25" smaller, but for a big car and roomy interior, you will be able to tell that the steering wheel is too small.
Even from that picture, I can tell that the picture is too small for the car. See how the curve is smaller than the dashboard.

Here are a few more pics
It doesn't seem too small I think
The smaller wheel is even more comfortable for someone I think
