Frontal Collision Mitigation System Error

My f15 has a new tick...

About 50% of all starts involve the error on the dash saying "Frontal Collision Mitigation System Error". This clears the second i put the car in drive and move.

Acc and drivers assistance functions all work normal.

Rarely comes on when driving and usually would only have snow or bugs involved.

Any ideas why it's doing this?

Is the ACC sensor dirty? Not the plastic cover but the actual sensor behind it?

So the system has been finicky for a couple years now. It works flawlessly for weeks
And months then randomly stops for a day or a week at a time; then back to normal.

This week it decided it wasn't going to work anymore. It posted a new error code.

Anyone encounter this issue? I've tried unplugging and replugging. Beyond that you have to remove the bumper to remove it..

I heard bmw can calibrate them but that I'm sure is ridiculously priced.

Any suggestions?

So some more research and I think the KAFAS camera may have failed, not the acc radar unit.

Anyone have experience replacing? The Newtis link doesn't work on google.

Get ISTA, you can get specific error codes, repair plan with step by step instructions (same as NEWTIS)

Did you ever have a windshield replaced? Is camera lense clear? Check connections?

Check if PDC sensors give this error in rain.

Never had a windshield replacement.

The error went away after a 4 hour drive yesterday, but then presented with some new error codes. It happened when it was very sunny directly in front of the car, which I have read can give the error code. I however have never encountered this before...

The code went away after a little while, and the car seems fine today.

The connection to the acc unit is firm and seems fine. I did not pop off the interior trim around the kafas camera to check those connections.

I cleaned the windshield and all cameras in front as well as the acc shield and pdc sensors.

Anyone have a reputable source to purchase / download ISTA+?
