ekological, where did you order the item? I've only seen the CF trim piece sold with the alcantara M Performance steering wheel and someone told me the trim piece won't fit on the original leather steering wheel.

The part number for the entire wheel with the trim is 32-30-2-344-150.

Searching for the part number on real oem:

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...99#32302344150

Part (1) refers to the wheel and the trim, but part (2) is the trim itself:
32-30-2-347-841

Searching for that part number shows all sorts of vendors selling it: ECS, BMW dealers, etc with prices in the $370 region. Part of me thinks that you're better off buying the entire wheel and then selling the alcantara wheel.

I ended up getting mine through ebay by people who seemingly sell a lot of BMW parts out of Latvia (for $313...I also wanted to pick up clear corner turn signal indicators for my '99m3 which aren't available in the states...no tax and shipping for $28 for all three items). I've also seen knockoffs on alibaba but have been warned that CF parts coming out of China will turn yellow.

I took a chance, bought the part and it fits just like the original piece on the heated leather wheel.

Thanks for the detailed info. Do you happen to have the ebay link to the seller in Latvia?

The username is oe245, but the price is higher now:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/19303725204...kcid=28&chn=ps

ECS and Turner are showing $340ish with free shipping. Husker BMW (bmwdirectparts.com) has it for $333...not sure how much for shipping.

That price was for the inner smaller piece and that's what I have. Looks like they raised their prices though. It's now $210. They do have the bigger piece like the one from M Performance for $280.

https://www.********.com/164/13/0/0/interior.html

Leaning towards the M Performance one though as I have the M Performance CF center console trim.

Looking at their pic of that piece, the weave looks all messed up where it transitions from straight to curved to go around the airbag. The weave's direction is also opposite of the CF dash pieces...that would drive me nuts =)

I saw that one but when I check my car on the fitment guide, it says it doesn't fit. I messaged them and told them my car info and the first response asked if I can provide more details. I then asked again if it'll fit my car and they again, asked me what make, model, year and engine I have. I replied that I gave them that info twice already and also noted that engine has nothing to do with this part. They're clueless.

Save yourself the headache and buy the part directly from BMW, like I did.

I really like your M1 and M2 buttons. Where did you purchase those from, and did you have to pull apart the steering wheel to install them?

I bought them off eBay from username "www-f8xfreaks-com". I've seen a few threads on here with people who have changed them without pulling apart the steering wheel but it makes no sense to me. There are too many risks for damage. I removed my steering wheel, also did the lower carbon trim at the same time. Not very difficult and doesn't take very long either.

Saw the vid below with DIY instructions on how to change the M buttons. Seems pretty safe? Didn't do mine myself though.

And iND also sells the blue M buttons but maybe the ones NYBulldog suggested might be cheaper?

There's also a bunch on Amazon.

Thank you, I'm currently searching both eBay and Amazon for the best price.
