Floor Jack to Jack Stands?

Looking for help on how to best use a floor jack to lift the F85 X5M to get it up on 4 jack stand at the jack points.

I've looked at the F15 forums which say that the F15 can be lifted in the front center point and the rear center on the differential. Does that apply to the F85 as well?

Thanks!

I'd like to know too, but I've never been able to find a center jack point. Looking through the manual too, haven't found it as it only references the 4 side lift points...

Maybe a block of wood on a jack to protect diff cooling fin castings?

Don't know about front. Other BMWs have clear frame jack point in middle under engine.

Don't jack the diff under any circumstance, it's not meant for that.

Check out your manual. I lifted my 35d from the front and back to place it on stands when I changed to Arnott's air springs and got my wheels powder coated.

Used a piece a plywood under diff (not to touch the seal) and there is a jack point in the center front that you have to remove an under panel. My vehicle was like this for about 3 months while I got my wheels back. I left the jack on the whole time to add support. No issues.

Try jackpoint jackstands. Or even consider the quickjack lift?

I was in a similar situation and couldn't find a good solution. The diff seemed like the only option in the rear. I ended up trying my Quickjack. It worked great as expected. I would highly recommend. Good luck. And let us know if you find a good rear jack point.

I use this jack point extensively, with protection of a 8" piece of pine 1x4.

On front position #2, do I need to remove under cover using roller Jack?
Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend jacking up your X5M/X6M from the Rear Diff Cooling Fins. Their is a risk of them breaking off, and cracking your rear differential, which would be a very expensive repair.
I would use the (4) jacking points, one on each corner of the vehicle to do this.

Agreed. As a fellow Porsche owner, Jackpoint jackstands are great, but I wouldn’t try to use the rear differential as a jack point either, even with a 1x or 2x to buffer the jack from the differential. As said above, use the 4 corners instead.

I use a floor jack and the front center jack point to get the front high enough to lower down onto jack stands on the front side jack points.

Then there's just enough room to get the floor jack under the rear bumper to the rear diff, on the housing, never on the cover, to lift the rear high enough to get the jack stands under the side rear lift points. It's a little time consuming, but it works.

I've been contemplating getting two or four of these UniJacks, combo bottle jack and jack stand to get it up in the air a little more easily.

Do you remove front cover or jack in place?
