F86/85 low engine oil warning

I just changed my engine oil 3K miles ago. This morning the low oil warning light came on. I added 1qt of oil per instructions on the screen.
Is this is normal, or should I bring the car to the dealer for a checkup?

Normal. Dealer always added 2qts when they topped off.

A quick Google says a liter or litre as you say across the pond is equal to 33.81 oz. (1 qt = 32 oz.), so it's pretty close

Your first question should be does your car normally require a quart or liter at 3000 miles,if not what changed? Dealer do oil change?
If this type of consumption is not normal for your car...back to dealer who changed oil for a peek filter& oil pan bolt gasket (s).

I changed the oil with Mobile1 0W-30(10 QT). Last time I changed the oil at 4K no warning light at all. This is my 1st BMW. I never add any oil to my Lexus SUVs for the last 15 years. I am not expecting to add any oil at all especially at 3K.
Thanks

Don't think it's anything to worry about, this particular engine seems to like to drink a little oil.

I've had my last two oil change batches tested, approx 5000 miles on each and there's virtually no wear on the engine.

Both my F15 50i and the F85 X5M required oil top offs every so often. Every service dept I've been to said it was normal, especially for the S63.

The S63 engine consumes oil, it is not uncommon for it to consume 1 qt. or 1 liter of oil every 1000 miles during hard aggressive driving. That's what the owners manual says.
During my year of ownership, I've put in 3 qt. of oil thus far. And I thought that Mercedes-AMG was bad on oil consumption. Don't forget that those twin turbos sitting on top of the engine consume oil every time their spinning.

Yes. I'm running 5w-40 as well.

I started using 0W-40, after my very first oil change. 5W-40, is also an excellent choice.

There is a sticker under the hood for oil viscosity 0W-30. I will drop my car off tomorrow for them to check out the engine.

BMW builds these engine with very tight tolerances, so a thinner weight oil flows better.
But offers less protection than a thicker oil. But there are many trade-offs versus one of another. So I found a happy medium with 0W-40 or 5W-40.

I cannot find Liqui Moly SAE 0W-40 only SAE 5W-40. Without the SAE motor oil, your OEM warranty is voided.
