X5 M Extended Maintenance Plan
Just picked up a 2018 CPO X5M. Purchased the extended maintenance plan up to 100K miles, good till 2024. Is the extended maintenance plan worth the price? What is the cost usually for that plan?

How many miles on your rig?
You will be happy. Drive it hard and enjoy. Stuff wears out with the HP channeled through the drivetrain and suspension. Been solid with electronics except for common steering column failure. 2500 or so right there. I have also had a xfer case replacement and air suspension. |

I literally just got mine yesterday. Very low mileage 2018 CPO X5M. I got offered but turned down the extended maintenance plan. My warranty ends 12/15/22 and I was told I can extend anytime before current warranty ends. They offered me extended to 2026 or 125k for about $3,500. After I turned it down they told me I can come back anytime before the current warranty ends and the offer (with slight uptick in price) will be available to me. Not too long ago I called a 3'rd party extended warranty and got quoted about $5,400 for 5 yr or 75k (whichever comes first) This is payable $169/mo for first 30 months with initial $288 up front. In my case I plan to own (and BABY) this car past my 72 month loan I just took out so I'll probably get one of the above when the time comes (12/22) - I want to sleep well at night while I'm paying off my LT loan lol. So bottom line it all depends on how long you intend on keeping the car. In the meantime TOAST TO US! Let's enjoy our new baby!

Plugs. Every 15-20k or so. Brakes (make sure. I thought that ended 2017). Fluids. Think diff fluid alone big $$. Unexpected failures like air suspension and steering column. Air filters: engine and cabin. Just tip your SA. Drive the shit out of it (safely) and enjoy it. It can handle it. |

If purchasing a 2018-CPO keep in mind that BMW USA is currently offering 1.49% interest on financing for 60 months and $500 loyalty credit as well.

I think it all depends on the participant dealer for the financing term. The one I got from offers .99% for 36months but up to 3 % after that. The CPO warranty does not cover the rotors, brakes and pads that's is what they told me so I went with it. The 30k miles services is a costly one as I was told, thoughts?? |

You are correct about CPO and I am aware of the coverage. In essence one is paying up front for the service that will be required at a later date. They wanted $3500 for the extended Maintenance package. Did not want to tack that on to the financing. By the time one pays the loan off that $3500 goes up in price. On top of that they tax it here in NY. I even tried to negotiate the price on all the options they were offering. They would not budge at all so I declined.

If someone can confirm this, that would be great because I am about to replace the airbags on my own, but rather have BMW do it since I have UltimateCare+ til 125k OP - overall it's a good buy if you're driving a decent amount like 15k and can get 1-2 brake changes and the plugs and diff service, you'll come out ahead. Still a few things need to pay out of pocket like alignments. Wish they included a bit more in the plan. |

I just had my front and rear differentials, transfer case and transmission fluids flushed and refilled for $500 at a indy shop. After I purchased all the fluids and the transmission filter kit myself, the $500 was just for labor. Add about another $400 for fluids and parts.

Congrats bro! Just got mine last Wed, same exact car with 7k miles! I grabbed it before it could even make the dealer floor. Was a coincidence I was negotiating a '21 X5 M50i when sales guy told me it just came in and I couldn't resist! So far so great! No regrets! BTW did you get your car from BMW of Tenafly (NJ)? They had one with 26k miles that I think just got sold. |

I believe (anyone feel free to chime in) you can get an extended warranty (BMW or 3'rd party) BEFORE the manufacturer/dealer (if CPO'd) warranty runs out (in my case 12/22). And there are certain auto shops that specializes in BMWs (like our Ms) in our area who are willing to "undo" any mods before applying for a claim so as to ensure warranty doesn't get voided. As you may or may not know BMW or 3'rd party warranty providers will always look at what claim is for and if it had been "modded" as an excuse to void these claims/warranties. There are threads all over these forums regarding extended warranties. |

Yes I purchased the one from TENAFLY. This is the 3rd BMW I've purchased from them after bringing in my car for service and having a look at a car on their website and then in person. By the looks of it, I should be leasing! About every three years I'm trading the darn car in during a service visit! Lol Post some picts when you get a chance. Any small issues with yours? I did not even see that one post. Now you have the dreaded search for a winter wheel and tire setup. I was searching for days every morning and evening in the forum. Two days ago I looked at the classifieds and I saw a set for sale in Jersey about an hour from me. I jumped on them and picked them up the next day after solidifying the deal with the seller.

KNOCK ON WOOD but so far no issues. I have put a couple of hundred miles since my purchase last Wed. Still trying to get used to this beast. Coming from an M3 F80 (manual) and recently X3 M40i the gearbox on the X5M is totally different - like putting it in Park before turning off the car and this damn vibration on my steering wheel when I veer off my lane is driving me crazy LOL...As for winter wheel/tire set up I may just hold off until next winter. I'm very fortunate to be WFH during covid and am not expected to work in the office until sometime late spring early summer so I can pick the days I go out with my new baby. It sucks they put the Pirelli P Zero RF instead of Michellins but at least I can breath easier knowing I have a spare in the trunk in case of emergency. Didn't have that on my M3 or X3 M40i so I was always a bit worried during long drives. |

When I saw it I couldn't let go!...It looked brand new and I wanted low miles but didn't expect it would be this low! PLUS I was told that, believe it or not, an "old couple" had this car. They were car enthusiasts that kept their cars in pristine condition and traded this in for a new 2021 X5M Comp. And when I inspected this car I believed it - I looked meticulously inside and out and under and couldn't find any blemishes! It was like buying this car brand new but with a significant discount! So I had to pass on the '21 M50i for this black beauty! Explaining my decision to wifey though was a totally different story LOL... |

For me personally, since I took out a 6 yr loan to pay for this car I will most likely buy the warranty just for peace of mind. At least I have 2 years before I need to make a FINAL decision and who knows things may be different at that point. But when the time comes and I decide I'm in this for the long haul (which is the plan right now) then it's comforting to know I'm covered throughout my loan duration. |
