Dash Cam switched 12v?

I have tried every single 12v fuse, tried the steering wheel adjust fuse. Yet they all seem to be permanent.
They all keep my camera running, even if I leave the car and lock the door...

Am I missing something? Every other cars I have owned I could just plug a fuse tap to a 12v and my dash cam will figure out to shut down in its own when engine power is off, and come on with ignition.
Is there actually a properly switched 12v? Or do I have to unplug it every single time which is fine for my front camera, it'd be far more difficult for my trunk camera

Any help would be appreciated

If I remember correctly my installer tapped into the cigarette lighter socket power feed as that shuts off exactly 10 minutes after car is locked

I use a power cable that plugs directly into the ODB port. Works great with my dash camera and there is a switch on the unit which is defaulted to run for 5 minutes after the car is turned off. There is a mini-usb and a micro-usb option available. Search for Rearmaster Universal OBD Power Cable in Amazon.

You should download the installation manual for BMW ADVANCED CAR EYE 2. It shows the front + rear fuse box re installation on various BMW Models.

Front camera is the one behind the glove box.
Others have said the 12v socket does shut down after 10 minutes after locking the door, I tried that before but it almost left my battery flat and trying not to do that.

So a proper 12v that actually stops when the engine stops would be good

With the auto start stop feature, the intelligent charging and the way the battery control keeps the dual battery setup in the X5's charged up / draws power... you may be hard pressed to find a 12V that is switched with engine.

The whole point of the AUX battery is to handle the load while the engine is NOT running.

Ignition in position 1 or off is a different story, but as mentioned, it seems like most branch circuits lose power after 5-10 minutes

the AUX battery is strictly for the EPS use, it does not power anything else.

as with most european vehicles, accessory power is kept on for roughly 10-15mins after the vehicle is shut off

there is no reason one cant tap into any of these switched power to feed the switched source the dash cam needs

I am going to try one more time plugging into the 12v, maybe i should just charge the thing again first inside.

I have tapped into the rear view mirror housing which had a cable that was powered on only. Check the forums for radar detector installs and you will find it.
