buying a 15 x6 that never had an oil change in 20k miles
hello im planning to buy my friends 2015 f16 off his hands. 82,425 msrp. high optioned with m sport, cold weather, driver assistance, driver assistance plus, dynamic handling, lighting, luxury seating and premium package.
he is the second owner and got the car around 29k miles. he has driven the car from pa to dc without doing any service in 2 years (from october 2017 to december 2019) until i told him he had to do service at 49k miles. one great thing about the 2015 was the warranty that included brakes and rotors which he did not take any advantage of. did also replaced engine filters, cabin air filters and air circulation around 51k. currently has 55k. clean carfax report. just wondering what major things that i should do/ look for especially knowing he has done nothing. pic. the x6 on the left and my old x6m on the right |

I would probably pass knowing he went that long without servicing, especially no oil change. Warranty most likely won’t cover any engine issue as that would come under neglect. My .02.

the real question is why did you get rid of the x6m for a regular x6?

the original warranty i know has expired already. the thing is the deal is really sweat at 20k. but most of the miles that were put on are highway miles from trips to DC and back to PA.

Should have asked the tech who did the oil change after 20k miles how the old oil looked. But if the guy did mostly highway miles, then things are probably OK. |

I would highly recommend you have a compression leak down test and the cylinders borescoped at the very least. An analysis of the oil too would be wise. How did he drive it? 20k city miles and 20k highway miles are very different on engine wear and oil breakdown. |
