Rear seat entrainment removal
Is it possible to remove the screens? They take up too much space when trying to fit a rear facing car seat. Thanks!
Edit: I obviously mean rear seat entertainment! Last edited by Mbturner12; 06-02-2018 at 10:20 PM.. Reason: Typo |

If you tilt screen up, underneath you can see 4 torx bolts, so if you take out those bolts and unplug 1 cable that goes into each screen - I think screens can be removed.
However, you will be left with a bit ugly black plastic mounting bracket on the seat backrest. If that's ok with you and you only going to do this as a temporary solution while kids grow out of rear facing carseats - then go ahead and do it. If you want a permanent solution, then you will need a different seats imho. And in that case I don't think it's worth it (2 front seats cost a lot of money to buy new). Swapping seats with someone who doesn't have rear entertainment system may not work either because you will need to swap a head unit as well and rear dvd with bunch of surrounding trim - and it quickly gets way to complex for a simple swap. Solution #2 is to look into smaller footprint carseats (doesn't necessarily mean carseats will have less protection). Honestly this may be a lot cheaper solution than playing lego game with your $70-80k car. Last edited by DuSh; 06-03-2018 at 08:13 AM.. |

I had the same problem. I removed one screen but couldn’t find any covers. After a year I placed it back, but be very carefull when placing the screen back. If you don’t turn the screws straight in, you will tap new wire like me. I had to replace the iron hinges as well.

Thanks for the replies. Removing the screens doesn’t look to bad, I think I will try it. Hopefully I can come up with a makeshift solution to cover the mounting brackets.

No faults or codes. I had both front seats removed when I was using sport seat instead. Now I'm back with oem seats and I forgot to connect rear screens plug (it's a separate plug under seat) and no faults came on. I only found out about it because screens were not turning on. Plugged it in and they started working.

Any solution?
Hi guys, did anyone find a solution to removing the brackets. I really hate having rear screens in the back and dealer advised me against removing them. BMW dealer said they are happy to take a look but will need GBP 1,500 deposit, thought it was a case of removing the metal brackets and then getting new back seat plastic covers.
