F85 X5M Exhaust Recommendations???
Hi everyone,
My cousin has an F85 X5m and is looking at getting an exhaust to add some extra character to the car. I recently got an Fi-exhaust for my M3 and after hearing how much of a difference it has made he is on the hunt for the same sort of result. Out of all the threads I have read I've come to the conclusion that Akra is good but price tag is not so great. If we are looking for LOUD LOUD then I'm assuming the Eisenmann Race system will be the system to look at, only downside of this is that is doesn't have any valves. We want a system that has valves and can be a system up until the stock downpipes as we will be leaving those in. Has anyone done the Fi-exhaust system for the X5m paired with stock downpipes? How much louder over stock in terms of percentage would you say it has increased? And the same for Eisenmann Sport which i believe is the same as the Race system but with Valves?? Lastly, if anyone has any videos on any system with stock downpipes that would be greatly appreciated, as it is hard to judge with the V8 engine how much louder a system is compared to stock. Thanks in advance, greatly appreciated. |

I have done:
FI downpipes with stock exhaust. FI downpipes with FI exhaust. DP with factory exhaust sounded awful. DP with Fi exhaust was incredible. Sounded quiet when closed and loud enough when open. Listening to turbo spool was addictive, every time you lightly accelerated. Sorry, I did not have factory DP with FI exhaust. |

I recently installed the fi exhaust, and currently have stock downpipes.
Deeper tone, smooth and consistent. It was exactly what I was looking for improving stock sound. Didn’t want it too loud and not too close to stock. My original choice was dinan but Glad I went with fi |

As someone with stock downpipes and an Eisenman Race, I think it works quite well. It's loud, but not max loud because of the stock downpipes. Personally I think the Akra is the loudest, but that could be because I've only heard ones with aftermarket downpipes.

From all the threads in the past on this, the only exhausts worth considering are the Eisenmann Race for max sound/noise and brutality, vs Fi for a great valved solution with great sound. Everything else seems to be too close to stock t be worth changing to, including the Akra which I’m told is not loud enough at all.

Alrighty, thanks everyone for their input.
I guess we will just have to make a decision between FI and eisenmann. I told him to just get Eisenmann as it wont be that loud not having valves, also seeing as he drives with the valves open 95% of the time haha. |

Other options that might work will be to get downpipes (and actually gains from the upgrade with a tune) and leave the stock exhaust with the valve system. |

You gotta check out FI EXHAUST SYSTEMS!!! I do like the Eisenmann exhausts too and we carry both of them but we've installed a handful of them and the eisenmann exhaust requires cutting. the fi exhaust system is a full bolt on and NO CUTTING AT ALL they are valvetronic! and sound like beastly they use 3 1/2 inch piping and definitely priced out nicely check it out ! |

I would get the FI exhaust. I never regretted it at all. Great quality. Looks great, sounds great. Then if you want more performance in the futre, the FI downpipes will be a perfect match. I did both and surprised many people in a race.
