right, this might be the solution but do not want to damage the trim and leather with the sparks...What a pain, never thought to have such issue with a bolt !

Get a drill bit slightly smaller than bolt diameter. Try to drill straight thru.

Drilling is the next step. i have ordered a set of extractors and will give a try asap. Still very puzzled by the tightening torque. as per bmw instructions it should be 42 Nm but here there is for sure something wrong.

Hey, i have easily removed all passenger seat screws and removed the standard seat (includes heating and lombar adjustement).
However, it seems the comfort seat has a different wiring because the only thing working now is lombar adjustment...
I was not expecting this to happen and now i have to find the way to sort this out. Help is appreciated

Yeah it's not plug and play unfortunately. Perhaps some coding is needed. And maybe even wiring change.

It was mentioned in post #15 that the wiring schematics for the seats is different based on which seat option you have.’

For example, this is the wiring schematic for the multifunction memory seats (aka comfort seats) & the regular memory seat control module. The control module is A245 in the schematic (which is active)...meaning you can expand/retract the size of the wiring diagram...if you’re on a tablet...you can use 2 fingers to make it bigger...or use your mouse buttons if you’re on a CPU. The wiring diagram also has highlighted clickable links that provide more info for items if you click on the links:

Thanks a lot for the input! i will review that and try to figure out what to do.
It s true that post 15 was mentionning different wirings based on the options but i also read that someone with the same options than me did it plug and play. Probably a misunderstanding. Never mind. i appreciate your support and look forward to getting the seats to work.

I don’t know...but I would look at both locations to make sure that the harness to the seat control module has the wiring that mates with the connector in the seat control module.

(A245 is the driver’s seat control module):

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ver/1VnZDZZPCe

Take note in the link to the wiring diagram above for the driver’s seat control module (A245) how you can see the wiring pins & colors that goes to the connectors on the module for “with” multi-function and “without” multifunction. Take note of the connecting wiring harness to see if it is wired the same for both types of seat modules.

very challenging to access to the wiring of the seat module.. what i would like to find is the wiring diagramme of the plug from the harness that comes from the car and the diagramme of the socket where this plug goes into.
so far did not find them.

I agree...I was hoping there was a pin out link (PIB) given...but in the little bit of searching thru the wiring schematic links...none came up. It would really be helpful in this case.

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...sav/1VnX9kL3xu

it matches with the colors i have on my connector. Now i try to identify the differences between old and new one.
Kan for a start, as i did not have memory seat on standard passenger seat.

Cool....and here’s the pin out (pin assignment) for the driver & passenger seat connectors:

Driver’s (A245): https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ver/1VnY9Z7oRa

Passenger’’s (A246): https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ule/1VnXat2VbF

These are the pin out for the modules under the seat. to my opinion nothing should be changed here. only the plug at the end of the harness coming from the floor should be adapted.
At the moment the main difference i see in the 2 plugs (standard and comfort) is the presence of CAN2 H and CAN2 L on comfort. Is this related to the memory function that i did not have on the standard seat? could it explain the fact nothing work on the comfort seat except the lumbar adjustment?
many questions remains open, support is appreciated, always

Back to the bolt, i managed to drill it out. it was probabably glued by the dealer when he removed the seat to change the apholstery of the seat (was cracking on the side, common issue I understood).
Driver comfort seat installed and working, apart from the memory. need to figure this out.
Seat is realy nice compare to standard one, appreciate how you can adjust it to your needs and the fantastic support in roundabout (very common here in France).

I still need to study the cabling of the passenger seat. Standard sesat had no seat module and new has.. probably the reason for absence of power.

Many thanks to Fred for getting this far. I am upgrading from my standard seats as well. It seems as the cars age, the prices for used seats have gone down significantly from the auto salvage yards, and this will be a more popular retrofit in the near future.

I wanted to clarify a few things in case it helps others. I’m not finished with the upgrade yet, but I’m getting close. (I am not responsible for any damage you may incur - the point of my post here is to get clarity around some details in order to make more progress)

Yes, the upgraded seats only require 4 bolts, and the seat wire plug is the same. Doing just these steps, the drivers seat will function but without the memory, and the passenger seat will not function at all. And, if you code in the correct upgraded seats, the memory will start working, the passenger seat will still not function, and you will throw airbag errors because the new seats have active head restraint headrests and the standard seats do not.

So, the first step is getting the passenger seat to function. After studying newtis, if you want to do it from the factory, you have to run 2 canbus cables from the R2 canbus connector (pins 6 & 19) in the rear behind the fuse box to the passenger seat plug (pins 6 & 5). This will get the passenger seat to function. However, people I’ve talked to say running back to the R2 connector isn’t necessary, as you can just tap in locally, like from the driver seat canbus cables. I don’t really want to splice into existing cables, so if anyone has any input on how to find canbus near the passenger seat, this would be preferred. Maybe splicing is more common that I am aware of.

In order to add the 2 canbus cables to the passenger seat plug connector, you need to first find the proper pins, maybe from fcpeuro, or a local auto parts store. This is where I’m stuck. Some of these details may be obvious to veterans, but that’s why the forum is beneficial, and I’m hoping someone can shed some light.

From what I know to this point, if you want to get the active head restraints in the headrests to work, driver and passenger seats need cables run to the airbag module. I haven’t studied this part yet, but I will post details if I make it this far.

If you have ventilated seats, you’ll need to purchase the correct hvac climate control panel.

Finally, coding is all that’s left to get the memory function to work on both seats.

I hope I’m not leaving anything out. More to come....thanks for reading and any input you can share.

G

Did they swap out your seat for the cracking under warranty? just noticed this on my daughters new CPO. She has 1 year left from original warranty and 1 year CPO.
