2017 X5 (UK) Sat Nav Update
Evening All,
Please help! Purchased a years subscription for the nav update of my 2017 F15 - From BMW. Downloaded the BMW Download Manager and then the European West 2020-2 Maps I then transferred the file to my 64GB USB stick. I have had it formatted in NFTS and FAT 32, I've tried extracting the files onto the stick and not extracting them, but when I insert the USB stick in to the car, nothing happens. As a side note, the wife mentioned that when she went out in the car today, it came up with a message saying there was a map update available, but she clicked to do it later, and some then the message has not come back up. Where am I going wrong? Thanks Guys |

Files must be in the root of the stick and have no other files, it should look like this:

After you have downloaded with the BMW Download Manager, it'll 1st check the downloaded files and then ask you where to extract the downloads.
If you have tried to extract another way, maybe something went wrong writing directories to the memory stick. If everything extracted via Download Manager and it does not work, maybe try another memory stick. (Do not know why, but a "faster memory stick" solved my problem) |

So turned out to be something relatively simple I guess The instructions said the stick had to be formatted in NFTS or FAT32. The only options I had when going for the format was NFTS or exFAT. So I went with NFTS as was unsure whether exFAT & FAT32 were the same thing. After formatting the stick in exFAT, the 2020 maps uploaded to the car no problem. Thanks again |
