Post Your F15 Issues Here..........

Bought 2016 X5 F15 (M Sport) 4 months ago with 73K Kms.

- In the first month the passenger seat leather formed a small rip due to wear & tear, and BMW covered it under warranty.
- The steering column adjuster motor was also making a squeaking noise and BMW changed the steering column or motor.
- 2 weeks later humming noise started to come from the rear differential. BMW changed that under warranty.
- Last month i started to notice hesitation while acceleration. BMW changed the transfer case under warranty.

This is my first BMW and I am surprised at the poor build quality.

i have had a 2013 f15 and no issues in 60k miles bar egr cooler cracked. By 2016 do you think bmw dropped the ball with the x5?
I'm in the market for a second f15 x5 and I should I get a 2013/14 one or a 2016/17 one(digital cockpit and newer i drive)

How in the heck did you get BMW to repair a wear and tear issue under warranty?!!? are you some sort of Wizard? Is your name Harry?

1) Change BMW dealership
2) Don't take it to a dealer at all..

A minor issue / bug is the rain detection system.
When set on auto with the rear on; then turning off the car and exiting. Now you come
Back in and start to drive, the front one work fine, the rear is in ON position while not triggering.

Hi Folks, This is my first post so apologies if I screw something up. I hope y’all doing well and staying healthy. I came across a strange issue last night and need guidance. So, I hit the open button on my sunroof, the shade went all the way and sunroof itself titled UP and DOWN then completely died on me. No matter which direction I press the button, there is literally no response. Not even a single click. Lucky for me that it died in a close position but please let me know if someone had this issue. Any tips and tricks you want me to try, do let me know. Thanks.

have you tried resetting the sunroof by pressing the depression in the middle of the sunroof button for 30 seconds?

Looking at same year and mileage...

I just took my 14' F15 in for service last week. Only 32k miles.

They told me the transfer case needs to be rebuilt to the tune of $8400.

Anyone else experience this? Of course, its out of warranty now.

I would ask for goodwill since it's such low miles. If they don't go for it take it to an Indy.

Ditto...BMW “goodwill” starts with the dealer...so request it of them and hopefully “bridges” haven’t been burnt where the service advisors and supervisor have you on a “blacklist” and are adversarial toward you.

You need to “romance” them so that it is mutually beneficial...you being the nice customer stuck between a rock and a hard place...and they are courting a long term BMW customer:

$8400?! What kind of issue are you experiencing??

If you really have to and BMW won't cover it under goodwill, then I would go for a 2nd hand TC which would be a much easier swap. Also BMW in Aus refuses to rebuild any internals (TC, Diff etc) and just replaces them with either replacement units (rebuilt in the factory from Germany). I would let them bill you for a huge amount of labour hours for rebuilding at site.

While AC is on All vents will stop flowing air but blower stays on making a lot of noise, then the air blows from the vents again. Has anyone had this and know the resolve. It’s quite annoying. Blowing is blowing but then air is blocked. Doesn’t go anywhere else, just blocked, then comes back. This goes on and off. If a long trip it’ll stop around 20 min down the hwy.

Sounds like the actuator that controls the climate zones behind the dash is failing.
Have you checked the computer to see if it shows errors or codes?
