Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT DSST; opinions?
We took delivery of our 35d, on Tuesday. It was fitted with the Dunlop run-flats, with the 451 wheel package. I'm a Michelin/Pirelli guy, myself. Does anyone have any input on these tires? Reviews on Tire Rack don't have really anything positive to say. Run-flats of this size are really slim pickings and it looks like I'll be looking for replacements around 15,000 miles or when the sidewall begins to bubble. Whichever comes first.

I would say if you have sidewall issues, take them up with your local dealer / BMW. I had the same issue on my F150 when the OEM Pirelli Scorpions began to separate.

I'll begin researching 275/40 and 315/35 Run-Flats to see what's available. It looks like they all get scrubbed down in 12-17k miles. That translates to about 10-14 months for me.

Had these Dunlops on my my 5 series.. They were good but a little unforgiving. Meaning when at the limit in a turn it move difficult to control. Or maybe I don't know how to drive who knows.
Have the P-Zeros on my x5. Given 2 extremely different vehicles but very happy with the Pirellis. Super sticky all the way around and easy to control at the limit. Can't even get the abs to come on there is so much traction when braking. Have a pair of Conti ContiSportContact 5 SSR SUV ready to go. Curious to see how they compare to the P-Zeros. |

I had the Dunlops on my e70 X5. I replaced them with about 23k miles and I replaced them with the Bridgestones at that point (They had about 40% tread left..so I replaced them a little prematurely).
Comparing the 2 I think the Dunlops had better traction (dry and wet) and were MUCH quieter than the Bridgestones. I have not tried the Pirellis, however (I don't believe those were available when I replaced my tires).
