Talked about quite a bit in the lowered threads. No it doesn't void your warranty as with any mods unless they can show the mod broke something.

So premature wear and tear on suspension bushings and components with a lowered car will probably not be covered. But if you ensure your car is aligned within spec regularly then you have a leg to stand on to defend yourself.

^^^Yup. At worst, they could deny suspension component claims but even that isn’t likely.

I’m having the H&R springs installed next week. Warranty is still in effect per my dealer (who is also installing the springs).

Im having my local mechanic do it, he works on all my cars.
He's a trained BMW Technician and he mostly works on European cars.
That being said he doesn't think I should do it.
He said that BMW always looks for a way not to cover you on your warranty.

As they say - you gotta pay to play. Small risk you have to take if you like to mod. I say yolo and go for anything you want to do to your ride. Worst case here is you have to pay for a new blown shock at some point but again, very very unlikely.

I think that's not only BMW.
Most big companies will find a way not to warranty things.

If you afraid of losing warranty, I suggest to live a normal life. Don't follow us who like to live on the edge to enjoy our passion in modding cars and personalized it to make it ours and stand out in the crowds.

search...

H&R springs are stiff, search the forum, some people feel they are too stiff.

With stiffer springs, you risk more wear on other suspension components. So if you have premature wear, BMW can reject a claim due to that, since they have a pretty good idea of life span for different OEM parts.

Imagine hitting a pothole with much stiffer springs, the energy of the impact has to go somewhere and if springs are harder, that energy goes elsewhere in the suspension.
You could be totally fine too, and never have any issues. But if you are worried about it, maybe you should think twice...

I had the dealership install H&R VTF's. Their mechanic is superb, and totally trust him to do it right. On top of that, I would never let anyone else than the dealer tech, work on a vehicle under warranty. (Springs from Ben at RG Sport, great to deal with)

Springs are way stiffer, but I'm used to H&R from previous vehicles, and adjust my driving. Handling is much better, but some friends are of the opinion I made a mistake getting rid of the more comfortable ride.

Which is exactly why I’m having the dealer do the work. It’s worth the extra $150 to me to have no warranty issues.

Lol what country are y'all from cuz I've never heard of a single US dealer offer to put on aftermarket parts much less ones that aren't brand supported such as Dinan, brabus, etc.

My local dealer here in PA has a performance desk. They sell both BMW and aftermarket performance parts. Aftermarket parts themselves will only carry the manufacturer’s warranty of course. Rest of the vehicle is covered by bmw warranty.

That's pretty legit.

If you have a good report with the dealership, they will likely do what they can, to do what you ask them to...
