But you can still open your slider then right? That is nice and clean.

This is what I use. It’s ideal because it’s small and doesn’t require much space. My only complaint is that the metal piece on your phone/in your case stops a wireless charger from working. So I remove my case.

Really liking how this one is set up....but a little pricey to get if I didn't like it! Be easy to toss in the console when you needed the cup holder too....

Hmmmm.............

Ended up getting the Pro Clip with Magic Mount wireless charger setup and deleting center console phone. I really like it, get the actual magic mount case for your phone and you'll have zero issues. The only thing I would change install wise is hardwiring for the 12v instead of running cable to cigarette port for a more sleek install, don't even know if this is possible. Also I cannot see what my temperature is without pulling a duck move, but just by click feedback you can count your digits.

The charging is super fast unlike some other wireless chargers, so coil quality doesn't fall short. If you don't remove the adhesive on the bottom clip, you can carefully slide the mount to a desired position, but I keep mine as shown.

Overall I recommend this setup, I ended up paying $150 for the mount, wireless charger, oem dock delete lid, and magic mount iPhone case. If you like your Waze and Spotify like me, this is it.

Can you still charge it with a regular Qi charger with the magnetic plates installed?

Yes! The magnets do not interfere with a regular wireless charging dock. The actual magic mount pro clip kit does come with magnets, but they aren't as strategically placed as the speck case with magnets.

Happy with this setup overall.

+1 for pro clip!

Great product and holds my phone securely even over rough roads!

I'm surprised the magnetic mount still works with your Qi charging. I bought that one as well and my phone got ridiculously hot while charging so I decided to go with the regular mount.

I haven't gone on long trips with it yet but so far no overheating with iPhone X. I can see how it could get quite hot especially with heat the on, phone on, etc. The electromagnetic field is def strong with this coil, I'd say closer to 2 amps +. The Samsung wireless charger in comparison is 1/2 the charging speed.

For temperature control on a phone I'll either disconnect the 12v when fully charged, or dim the screen to a darker brightness setting to emit less btu.

I keep my cell inside the arm rest console so that it's out of the way and I'm not tempted to check it while driving. I got that tray in there, and it stays plugged in via the USB inside the console, so it's already connected. My messages are synced and if I want to make calls, I use the voice command. Really no need to look at the cell at all during about 95% of my drives. Also a lot safer that way.

EDIT: I have my tray in this post, and it shows the cable connector poking out too where I keep the phone connected to the USB connector inside the console:

I hate it in there as I then always forget it in there when I get out! I put it in there when I charge it now, and I almost always have to go back and get it. I use the idrive and voice messaging too, so I really never look at it. I'm too blind to see it without my prescription glasses anyway and I don't wear them when I drive (super far sighted). I just want it where I can remember it, charge it when needed, and occasionally use google maps when needed.

Ah, I see. I almost never forget it, but I could see how that happens. I'd just rather not have it distract me while I'm driving, we know the stats on that. The thing I actually use it for most while I'm driving is listening to podcasts through bluetooth.

Seeing the Proclip images, I think I will invest in some. I have some cars with nowhere to put a vent or dash mount (without damaging the surfaces anyways), seems the Proclip will be perfect!

BMW now has a wireless charging option that mounts in the cupholder. Expensive, but comes with a powerbank.....

I like the idea of that, but how deep is it? It looks pretty shallow like you'd lose a lot of the available space in your console.

Actually it looks exactly like what I have only with a wireless charger attached to it and mine is the PERFECT size. I love it.

You can see at the end of this post. https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1563595&page=2
