35d, x-line, launch control?

Flame suit on... Maybe this had been discussed.... But as far as I know only the M-sports have launch control. However, yesterday just to see how it would do I came to a stoplight, where Id be accelerating onto a freeway on-ramp... Put the car in Sport and the transmission in sport so that "S1", first gear, showed on the display.

Light turned green and I quickly took my foot off the brake and floored the accelerator. It did not instantly take off... Instead there was a momentary delay, the revs shot up, and then it bolted off the line. It was quick enough that it startled me and I lifted.

I repeated the procedure again just to see, and same thing....

I can't figure out if it's a launch program or if the car knows full throttle will overwhelm the tires so it's some part of the traction control. Either way it's awesome.

I know the model line ups are slightly different here in the UK compared to the US but my understanding is that you get the launch control with the Sports Auto Transmission, which is standard on the M Sport models and an option on the SE's here in the UK.

Glad you like it, hopefully I'll be able to try mine out soon.

Did you get any indication on the dashboard to indicate that launch control was active or anything like that?

I'm sure its only available in M versions. Here is the cut from the manual

Press button or select with the
Driving Dynamics Control Sport+.
TRACTION is displayed in the instrument
cluster and the indicator lamp for DSC OFF
lights up.
2. Engaging the transmission position S
3. With the left foot, forcefully press down on
the brake.
4. Press and hold down the accelerator pedal
beyond the resistance point at the full
throttle position.
A flag symbol appears in the instrument
cluster.
5. The starting engine speed adjusts. Within
3 seconds, release the brake.

So looks like no Flag no Launch

Maybe your transmission is slipping?

Thanks for the replies. It seems like it's a pretty deliberate launch from the transmission. Def no flags on the dashboard...

Will try to make a GoPro of the launch

Ag64 is correct. Launch is engaged once you see a flag on dash. This is exclusive of the M sport versions.
