Just got my Carbon Black X5 Back from the Detailers
Just picked up my X5 from the detailers today. I made the mistake of leaving it outside in the sunshine near big tree so they had more problems to deal with than expected. Apparently tree sap+dark colour+sunshine+new car (before paint has really hardened) is a detailers nightmare :thumb down
They asked me if I wanted to know about the paint faults they found - they walked me through all the photos. Couple of panels had been resprayed, a few obvious (to their eyes) small ding/dent corrections etc and fine scratches - all done during manufacture by the looks of things. However, after a few days of work (paint correction etc) she is looking beautiful! |

Wow, that looks incredible. What did that cost, if you don't mind my asking? That sounds like a whole lot of work! |

That was the original plan but apparently they are not good with tree sap (alkaline) so suggested I went for a sacrificial layer approach (ie. wax). Unfortunately I can't avoid parking near the tree.
They used a couple of layers of Swissvax Crystal Rock. Not cheap! |

They certainly do! Did feel slightly inadequate with the X5 they get some very tasty cars in
Amazing how crap the out-of-the-factory BMW paintwork is though under (very) close inspection. They did reassure me however that even the Supercars they get in are not perfect. |

Apart from that - no mods planned (I've already done the usual coding mods). Boat next - to go with the tow bar |
