Steering column squeak

Just started experiencing light squeak when going up and down while starting/stopping...time to disable via coding?

Can you share part numbers so I can be prepared?

I don't remember what the part number is but I still have the work order document that has all the details that I can share when I get home later tonight.

CAN this be disabled in a 2017 without coding? I went into iDrive just now and nothing about disabling entry/exit for the steering wheel, and the owner's manual does not mention how to disable!

I turned it off in my last 3 Range Rovers and G-Class. It always seemed like a "fat person" option! LOL

Had this happen on a previous X I owned and they added some teflon tape somewhere to make the noise go away. My SA was very familiar with the problem. He also was familiar with everyone complaining the movement couldn't be shut off.

I want to code it out, but a fellow member says it's too late now.

Don’t code it out now!
Go play with your steering column from now and then, and let it broke before warranty expires....

No warranty, am on my own.
Wish I could code it out and not have to replace, but part I think is required does not seem expensive.

People were talking about 5000$ repair at the dealership. I doubt it is just a 55$ part. Could not confirm however, mine was covered by warranty. I would code it. Mine was making absolutely no noise or squeak before breaking down.

That 55$ Part might have the same problem... menelaos, I bet you can build yourself an X5 using eBay parts...

I found the motor for $160 on ebay. Will have a mechanic do it.
Just curious if there are other parts involved.

Well, I don’t know why there is no warranty on your 2015 x5. But if you do want to code it off, here is how:

“In BDC Body:

You have to set to AKTIV the following 2 lines:

BDC Body -- V_MAX_AKTIVER_EINSTIEG_AKTIV
BDC Body -- V_MAX_DEAKTIVIER_EINSTIEG_AKTIV

and the you have to check that

BDC Body -- V_MAX_AKTIVIERUNG_EINSTIEG
BDC Body -- V_MAX_DEAKTIVIER_EINSTIEG

are set to WERT_01.”

When coding, can ignition be in any state?
Quite a novice!

If the mileage is passed the warranty threshold.
