That's the one thing I miss from our 2018 X5.
Please share what parts and how much coding and work is needed. Thank you in advance. Rainer |

I'm interested as well. Either I'm getting old or the X5 offers a lot less visibility compared to my previous car's In any case, surround view would be great to have!
Edit: When retrofitting my dimming passenger mirror I found all the wires present on the connector in the door. Just now I removed the panel above the pedals, where the surround view module would be installed, but I see no extra wires there. Could you perhaps already comment on what would be involved? I'm surely too optimistic in hoping they are just tucked away, waiting for me to install the module haha. |

I compared the partnumbers and indeed, you cannot use the rear view cam for surround. Also the pinout differs, so I'll be ordering the repair wiring loom for surround view (Part no. 61119322316) to save myself the hassle of building and rewiring it myself. |

Once I see the write up, cost of parts, coding, and ease of install...i'll be doing it. I haven't had a car without surround view since 2008, lol

Firstly the total cost of the retrofit was around £1400 but could be done cheaper as I bought the mirrors and the TRSVC and rear camera and front camera all together from eBay. You could jusy buy the lower part of the mirror housing and strip the mirrors i did that for a friend this week pretty easy to do PM me if you need more info. Next I had to purchase a repair loom for the TRSVC this has all the connectors that I needed. Next was the front grill as mine is an x6m it does not require to drill bumper the camera mounts in the upper grill below the kidney grills. First step install the TRSVC there is already a housing above the passenger side foot well just above the Body domain controller which is handy because that’s where some of the connections are for the TRSVC module . Next I removed the head unit to do this remove the dash trim from the stop start button it just pulls off then undo the bolts holding the head unit in place . The reason i had to remove head unit was to connect thee wires that go into the head unit see pics below it can be done at another connector but its above the heater and a bugger to get to so i just popped the head unit out removed the multi plug see pics and removed the existing wires in the multi plug they are for the stand alone rear view camera and that not compatible with the TRSVC UNIT and slotted new wires that came with repair loom(red, white, shield) pins 21/23/24 on the head unit multi plug again see pics. Next came the connections to the Body domain controller these are the k_can2 low and high wires they are yellow and brown and yellow and red in the repair loom. These you need to spliced into existing cables on the Body domain controller if they are there my car had high beam assist so the kcan2 wires were already there i just soldered onto wires then put heat shrink on . My car already has the mirror cameras loom installed apparently some later BMW come partially wired for surround view. I just ran the two small square connectors to the door multi plugs these lift up pretty easy with a screw driver awkward bit is pulling the male side of the connectors into the inside of the car i had to move the body domain controller and the ICM module out of the way only 2 bolts . Next you need to fit new mirrors pop top part off door trim off only 2 screws on each door pop panel off at top you will see 3 mirror bolts . If you are modding your old mirrors remember and order the 9 pin connector housing for your mirrors as standard they only have room for 6 pins i.e 2 / 3 pin connectors .Next connect the front camera loom up the TRSVC module see pic . Pins 1,2,10,11 on plug A259*2b
Next run the rear camera cable and the red live cable along the existing loom just under the drivers sill. This bit nearly broke me getting the connector for camera through the rubber grommet in top of tailgate i removed the grommet from tailgate loosened off some off the harness so the grommet was straight fed a wire hanger through taped on the multi plug and slowly pulled it through to reset the grommet press the plastic holder in tailgate out can see the small catches press them in and pull down then refit rubber grommet and press back into the hole. Front camera is next that depends on your car but the new repair loom has the connectors for it . I did remove my bumper pretty easy to do PM for details Next connect the earth brown wire from the repair loom onto the earth just below the body domain controller. Last connect the red live to the rear fuse box see picture I Wasn’t to sure about coding so i got a guy to remote code he was great did it in 5 min PM me and i will email it PARTS PRICE Repair TRSVC loom. £131 Mirrors cameras £ 1200 coding was £60 completed in 2 days |

Where did you get the connector for the front camera? My plan is to re-purpose the one from the reversing camera, but there might be a better way?
My set arrived yesterday as did the wiring loom. I'm waiting for the module and a bit of free time I bought a RHD set although my car is a LHD and transferred the camera's from the mirrors. The mirror housing bottoms that came with it where quite scratched so I decided to reuse mine and drill a hole for the camera's. No need to buy those new. Modifying the switch panel was easier than I thought as the internals are exactly the same, with or without surround view. All you need is the actual button. For non-M models you need a bracket that holds the front camera, part number 51 11 7 352 236. |
