Tires...yes I know another thread.

So I know there have been several threads that discuss this, but I wanted to see where the general sentiment has landed with all-season tires for our X5's. My Pirelli's are nearing the end of the line, and I am now starting to figure out what I want to put on the car now. I will definitely be moving away from run-flats, and I already have the space-saver spare in the trunk.

As far as I gather, the most recommended tires we seem to see are the Conti DWS 06, the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+, the Michelin Premier LTX, and possibly a couple others. I have the standard xLine non-staggered setup, so the 255/50/19s. Are people getting near the warranty distance on these tires above? Any other thoughts?

Actually read good things about Delinte and Lionheart tires.

When time comes for all 4 corners, going to try them out...

+1 for DWS 06s. Decided to go with these after reading review after review and watching youtube vids on them. So far so good, but, I have only had them on for a month

I'd get the A/S3's, currently running 467's with Conti's which will be my winter setup until I need new tires, then get proper winter/snow rubber. For the summer I'll run 375's with Super Sports.

I havent had the others but I had the DWS tires. Loved them until this year they ran out of snow traction even though the tread could probably get me through one more summer. Decided to get dedicated snows and put the basically brand new summers I have in the basement back on the OE rims.

That being said you cant go wrong with the DWS, just once you hit about 20k-25k on them they are worthless in the snow.

Both tires are great. One is simply cheaper than the other and why I opted for the DWS. $400 is $400. That savings could buy me apple car play for my 2014. Or having my brakes finally powder coated lol.

End of story and debate.

With your 19 wheels, you have a lot more options. What tire you have now? The pirelli scorpion verde is a great tire too.

I had Delinte once and had to replace them after a few thousand miles because the were cracking. Had lionhart/Lexani (same brand) several times with no problems.

If price is not a factor than the Michelin Pilot A/S 3..4.. DWS's are good, I have a set... or 2 maybe... I have 15 sets of wheels so hard to keep track. If my wheel tire budget was unlimited then all my sets would probably have Michelins, except 2 of the winters they would still have Nokians.

For 19s, I’ve heard good things about Michelin latitude runflats. If you don’t care for run flats, then dws06 it is!

Marlin-

If you have interest in a set of non-run flat Pirelli Scorpion Verde’s, I have a nearly new set that came off my x5 when I bought it in September. They were new when I bought the car, I put less than 1,000 miles on them before I installed my 21’s. They are sitting in my garage right now, I was going to hang on to them and put them back on when I sell the x5 but that will be a long time from now. I’m just up the road from you in central Bucks.

I have staggered 20's with A/S 3's and after 10 k miles I'm happy. I've also had DWS and liked them too. Either is a good choice.

After reading this hear and talking to the guy at the wheel shop, he stated that a lot of ppl are leaving the run flats because they're so noisy. I'm a little confused because my car sounds really quiet while riding on mine. Is there some other reason ppl may be going away from them?

19" runflats are ok. When you have lower profile tires like 20", they get noisier.

Driving on all-seasons is like walking 24hr a day with a condom on. It's bad during the summer, it's bad during the winter. It's just bad.

Sorry.

True story. I just moved from 19" to 20" and the increase in road noise is very noticeable. Mostly between 30 to 50 MPH.
Will switch to AS non RF, coming next fall.

Mine were whisper quite on 20" till I hit about 20k miles on them then super noisy. Very annoying but again it wasn't always the case. I just don't like how heavy and needlessly expensive they are.

Sure. Compared to what?

People think condoms are fine until they’ve tried without it.

You need to consider the car this is on. Its a 5000 pound SUV. We have had the DWS and the summer tires on, we are keeping the summers on due to having dedicated snows now, but honestly I like the DWS better then the summers.

It gives up a little in handling at the limit (yea 5000 pd SUV not a sports car so does that matter) but they are quieter, last a lot longer and are a little cheaper.

This isnt a Porsche or even an M3 for that matter, unless you are tracking the thing you 90% of people will be hard pressed to see the difference.
