Lower powered gate conversion

So the new X7 lower part of the tail gate is powered instead of dropping deadweight... anyone know if it can be converted for X5's?

New X5 has the same feature, not sure if it can be retrofitted or not.

Still don't know why you would really want this. Just another thing to break and i like the ability to quickly open and close it. Sitting there waiting for it to hydraulically open and close would seem annoying to me.

I had a G05 loaner for a week and this feature is more useful (to me anyway) than expected. My kids play ice hockey and I have them trained to lower the bottom tailgate when putting their equipment in the car. Their friends are another story and try to toss the bag over the bottom tailgate. The powered lower eliminates the risk of them dragging the bag over the paint.

The cool thing is both the top and bottom open and close simultaneously when you use the control inside the car, there is no extra step closing the bottom before the top.

That's a good point. It's like me trying to get my friends and coworkers to not slam my doors shut like it's a 1970 Cadillac. I'm just waiting for the soft close doors to fail and prevent the door from closing/opening at all costing me a paycheck to replace.
